Happy Saturday Everyone. I am trying to find a dog food for my 5 month old puppy. She doesn't seem to like Lamb and Rice by ONe or Purina Puppy Chow. I have had success with Beneful Chicken and rice puppy food. Does anyone use this? I am welcome to suggestions for a good puppy food.

Nita, RUN right away to the Food Group I linked to you above. RUN

It is one of the largest groups on DK with hundreds of members. All your questions can be found and answered there.
Where is that Saturday Night Live Video. I think it was based on Beneful. :)
Thank you Karen. I am still laughing at this video even though I've watched it 20 times.
My dog eats cat poop. He certainly looks like he is having a good time. As a matter of fact, I think cat poop is healthier than many dog foods.

That's my favorite line in the video. Too funny , too true.
Nita, please join us in the Food Group.
You really don't want to feed Beneful, or Purina, or anything that you can buy in the grocery store. Please join us to learn the many reasons why. Your puppy's life depends on it.
I'll post suggestions here too, in case you want a summary. Some good brands we all like are Orijen, Acana, Wellness, Fromms, Eagle Pack Holistic Select, and Canidae. The food group is great for all this information though!
Also:
Solid Gold, EVO, Innova, Nature's Variety, Evanger's, California Natural, Natural Balance.
But the purpose of the Food Group is to have the info in one place for people who want to know the healthiest way to feed their dog, and to provide information on nutrition, recalls, and how to choose the right food. Unless you understand these aspects, it's easy to think it's too expensive to feed a dog properly. And you also get the old "My parent's dog ate Alpo and he lived to be 18 years old."
People are entitled to think that way, and to feed whatever they like. In the Food Group, we're all there voluntarily because we want to learn more and share what we've learned. And this is the most common question anywhere: What should I feed my dog? It's hard to reproduce 14 months worth of explanations, research, and information every week, lol. It's all there, come join us!
NIta,
When I first joined I was feeding NUTRO. I thought it was the best. It was on the recall list for a very dangerous food. Still it was marketed as the best I could do for my puppy.

Hopefully I did not offend you. We all start somewhere, as Karen mentioned. We all learn somewhere too. Come join us. MOST of us have gone to the food group at least 10 times trying to feed our dogs, make them healthy, or tried to figure out what was making our dogs sick.

Also, check out the DK Cookbook! Now that is a fun and interactive way to feed your dog. We make Liver Cookies Twice a month.
I was feeding Nutro, too, Joanne. Can you believe it? Then I met Lynne on another forum. We never even talked about food...our friendship was built on talking about our strange, fearful adopted doodles. But I heard about how Lynne lost Magic to the food recalls. I started learning more. And the Food Group was born.
Here is the beauty of the world: Magic did not die in vain. Every dog whose owner has learned a better way through the Food Group is a living testament to Magic.
I remember your post ( early March ) about the recall of NUTRO. I signed on just before I went out to do errands and purchase dog food. We were having a terrible time with Spud's digestive issues but I just KNEW it was not food. :(

You also had posted a list of good foods to try with a rating. I printed this list and went straight to a feed store.

Speaking of NUTRO, during our last visit to Petsmart, Spud walked into the door and went straight to a pallet of NUTRO. There standing with all the pallet of food was a nice girl who represented the NUTRO product. " Would you like to sample NUTRO fuzzy dog? ". Spud lifted his leg and peed all over the food.

GOOD BOY SPUD! Joanne, give that doodle a bone and tell him it's from Auntie Karen!
