Today while I was doing stuff around the house, I was talking to my two dogs like they were human...I was complaining about the mess that was in the den, and I suddenly realized that I was talking to my dogs, lol...Like they were going to answer me???..They follow me around and I swear when I talk to them they listen, and understand what I am saying...Am I the only one who does this? I have always done this with all our dogs, and I guess I am too old to change...But maybe the men in the white coats will come and get me..., lol

I talk to Guinness all the time. He actually listens more than my DH (LOL). When I'm really on a roll he looks at me and cocks his head to the side. I always thought it was cute, but never knew what it meant. I recently read that it's because he has no idea what I'm saying, so he's moving his head to place himself in a better position to pick up the sound waves. He thinks if he hears more clearly he'll understand...I love that he's trying.
Me too.
Murphy and I talk all the time. He tells me his problems and I tell him mine. We hug it out and both feel a lot better for having shared our thoughts. He tells me things that no one else would. Like if I come in from a run and am really stinky....he sniffs me out and then walks away like "EWWW". Or if I'm late for something, he starts walking faster and faster from room to room with me like he's herding me in to get going...And ofcourse he tells me about other things I just can't share as some things he's asked me to keep a secret.
Murphy could be Olivers twin I think...How much does he weigh and how old is he?...I truly believe they sense what we mean and need then take over, lol
They do look a lot alike, Murphy is 57ish pounds and 13 months old. Please post somemore pictures of Oliver. I think Murphy's coat is a little curlier, but not by much. He is a F1 Goldendoodle. Oliver?
well Oliver is 10 mos. old and weighs 67 lbs. Olivers coat is wavy and thick, and I will take some new pictures of him and post them over the weekend...There coloring is really the same I think
I think its amazing how many words they do know,,cat,daddy,dish,cookie,walk,by-by,who's coming, treat, when we get my grand'daughter from the bus, I say the bus is coming and she knows which way to look for it..and all of their training words etc,etc So why should'nt we talk to them=))))
What, are there really people out there that don't talk to their dogs? My pack is always full of good advice.
Yesterday I had both girls outside to potty. It was pouring down rain and so we came in and got dried off and I took my coat off and said "Ok, now mommy has to potty", and Lucy ran to the bathroom and sat and waited for me! I'm here with them all day, and talk to them all day long. It amazes me how many words they seem to know the meaning to! It does seem lately like they are starting to talk back though. Lucy will just come up to me and sit and look up and do this arr arr arr thing! Too bad I don't understand her like she understand me ..... although I suspect she is wanting a treat! In years gone by I had a couple times when I was not working for one reason or another, and I was always bored ..... that certainly isn't the case now.
Fenway talks back to me too sometimes, but usually when she's been misbehaving and I give her a command to sit or down so she can calm down and she'll bark/growl at me . She'll also do the bark/growl at me when she's getting impatient and I'm taking to long to get her leash on so we can go out. Too funny!
They say dogs anticipate body language and no doubt tones of ones voice. I can't think of a better way to enjoy my day than to talk to my dogs : ) guilty like all : ) .
Of course I talk to Chewie...how else is he going to expand his use of the English language? LOL.
