Just wondering if folks have noticed their doodles like television? My Sadie has a DVD for dogs called "While you are gone" and she really enjoys it....I don't know anyone else who has a dog that notices TV...so I am curious~
Luca always noticed animals and would bark and charge at them. He is somewhat better with this and now, he'll be 2 in March, he'll watch general programs for awhile. Sometimes I turn on the TV for him. Calla is not interested.
Lilly will look if a dog is barking but she normally does not bother except when the emg. broadcast thing beeps on TV..she stops what she's doing and watches the words go across the top..I had to laugh at her =)
Lola watches TV a lot. She especially likes Dogs 101 or the Dog Whisperer, but she will watch shows with just people in it too, like the Housewives of Orange County. She can watch a whole show and at times goes and gets a drink of water or some food during commericals... I swear she is human sometimes. Shandy, likes mostly dog shows, but LOVES that Toyota commercial with the people trying to find the dog with the squeeky toys... it makes her stop in her tracks and watch it. She also tries to sometimes get to the dog in the TV screen, which is thankfully to high on the wall for her to reach. I am attaching a picture of Lola watching TV.
One of my dogs LOVES any show with cool sound effects, like Doctor Who and Lost. He also intently watches the opening credits of West Wing whenever I get one of those DVDs from Netflix. Both dogs go crazy if animals or scary shadows are on the screen. The opening credits for Northern Exposure is their all time favorite! http://www.doodlekisses.com/video/northernexposure-1
Sheba takes very little interest but occasionally will watch. Duke will sit there very still and quietly and watch for a looong time. When a commercial comes on he will walk up and look behind the TV to see where the people or animals went that he was watching. We also have a digital picture frame on our end table in the living room. He will sit there with his chin propped up on the end table watching the slideshow. When we turn it off he'll look behind it also.
Wrigley loves to watch TV. It started with baseball last summer, but now she'll watch alot of things. She loves Dogs 101, and her favorite commercial is the Bacon Strips commercial with the golden retriever. She goes nuts when that commercial comes on.
Gus LOVES to watch TV, it doesn't matter to him what's on, though last week we watched E.T. and he watched the entire movie without moving. I don't even think he blinked! Molly's not as interested, but she does watch it once in a while.
Snicks likes watching CNBC with my hubby he likes to watch the stock ticker roll along the screen. He also goes nuts for this one car commercial where the people are driving around looking for their dog and they keep squeezing a toy to get the dogs attention.
That commercial will get Murphy running from another room quicker than a "COME". He has a toy just like it and must think I'm playing with it without him and he's coming to check it out!!!
Agnes prefers the Today Show or Good Morning America -- I think she likes the sound of their voices. On the other hand, whenever President Obama comes on the TV, she slams her bone or toy as loud as she can --- she will find the loudest squeaky toy and chomp on it. I think she prefers to be the center of attention :)
