I was wondering if everyone assumes that your doodle puppy is a girl?  Because Chewie is so cute (unbiased opinion of course) everyone just thinks he is a girl.  Even when I say his name and and that he is a boy a lot of people still say she.  This doesn't bother me, but just wondering if it is common ??

Everyone seems to know that Jack is a male; but he's very large and scruffy looking, and of course he isn't the least bit fluffy. His "equipment", while nothing to brag about, is visible to all.
I have to admit I do try to sneak a peek when meeting new dogs so as not to offend anyone by calling a "he" a "she" or vice versa. Maybe you could get Chewie a very masculine sports themed collar or leash to give people a clue!
Good Idea - I need to look for a Bears or Blackhawks !!
Go Chicago! LOL
Even dressing your doodle in boy or girl gear doesn't always work. I was waiting with Molly in the vet's office last week, she was sporting her pink collar and pink leash, and a man who was petting and talking to her kept saying "what a good boy you are". I didn't correct him, just chuckled softly to myself!
We have the opposite. Everyone says "he" for poor Agnes. I got her a purple harness and a pink leash -- that helped some :)
Trust me the pink collar and leash doesn't always send a clue. Lilly has both and is told good boy a lot also.
Haha! I guess some people just aren't very observant.
YES. Always
when my son was a baby, everyone thought he was a girl bc he had long blonde curls, which I just couldn't bring myself to cut off. I just smiled when people said "what a beautiful little girl" and now we laugh about it (and he rolls his eyes when he sees the pictures). Enjoy your cute little boy while he's a fluffy puppy - pretty soon he'll be a big male dog that no one calls a "she" any more ;)
That's funny. Yeah he is growing up way too fast !!
I think for the most part more people say he and occasionally she for my Chewie. It's funny, but I always assume a dog is a "he" (probably because I have always had males) and I always assume cats are a "she" (and I've never owned a cat) because they seem feminine to me.
I think some people just pick a word (he or she) and go with it, myself included. But Piper looks girly, because he is so fluffy and cute. Everyone thinks he is a girl. It doesn't matter to me one way or the other though! It is just nice that they stop to chat about him! :o)
