No Obstruction For Bear :)

We went to the vet and Bear is doing so much better.  They thought it was a virus but to ease my mind they did an x-ray.  They found nothing, but she did say that a paper towel would most likely show up as tissue.  He had an I.V. of fluids because he was dehydrated and they gave him two prescriptions one for throwing up take as needed and another for the diarrhea that he needs to take all of the medicine.  He's a little more playful, they said the I.V. would do that,  They also said to give him a blan diet.  So he's getting boiled chicken and rice.  He's going to think it's a treat and fake getting sick to get more of that!  Thank you all for your help and kid words.  Never had a sick dog before.  That was just like have a baby with a fever and not knowing why?

Hi Heidi...so sorry to hear that Bear wasn't feeling well! I'm glad you got it checked out and that he is feeling better now. Bailey ate most of a paper towel one night too and I was so worried, cause she started like gagging..I kept watching her and was going to take her in but then she started acting normal, drinking and eating, etc..wasn't gagging anymore. She ended up passing it a day or so later. Wow... these doodle are crazzy with the things they like to chew up! They are like toddlers! And yes it is so hard when they can't tell you what is wrong! I'm sure the medicines will do the trick. And he will love the chicken and rice! Bailey gets very excited when she has to have that diet. Hope to see you and Bear soon. :)

Glad to hear Bear is doing ok. It is impossible to keep up with the things they find to eat that they shouldn't. I caught my pup chewing on a battery when he was about 6mos old. Luckily I caught him in time and other than a small chemical burn to his tongue he was fine. Thank God for the internet. He found the battery in my son's room. Needless to say my son received a rather heated lecture and now I keep my son's room door closed at all times.He still gets into stuff he's not supposed to but he usually tells on himself and I know when he is up to something. He always follows me wherever I go in the house and if he doesn't it's a dead giveaway. Also if he leaves the room I'm in in a big hurry it's a sure bet that he's got something he's not allowed to have. What is it with doodles and paper anyway. If you look at the slide show the doodle going down the steps with the newspaper is mine. The paper was just one of a dozen things I caught him with that morning. Anyway Good Luck and take care.

Hi Donna. Your are right about paper!!! Geesh. My DAUGHTER (who was a deaf baby and had batteries in her hearing aids) swallowed a battery once. And I watched her like a HAWK. She couldn't talk yet, so off to ER we went -for about the 20th time. They had to induce vomiting bc of the acid you were talking about. Scared me to death. Between 4 dogs and 2 kids my hair Would be all grey now if I let it. I'm picking up my new ALD puppy Sheila in about 10 days. Here we go again!!!!! Your doodle is gorgeous.

Awwwiiees. You poor girl. I'm so glad bear is doing better (and you, too). I've had four dogs over 34 yrs and 2 kids (one is now a vet). But you never stop worrying about your dogs--or kids. When I was a young mom I called my pediatrician every time the Baby Book, Dr. Spock, said to. Fever over 102 degrees, puking so many times, etc. One late night (that's always when dogs and kids get sickest, isn't it) I said to my pediatrician, Dr. Spock said I should call youif Shelley has this or that symptom, and the Dr. replied "isn't that guy dead yet"? I hope we didn't scare you. But we invest so much of ourselves in our pets, children that I always figure it is their JOB to answer our questions.
