In the past year or so we got our first local Doggy Daycare and I've been hoping that this would give us a place to hold romps here...a place besides the dog park (where you never know what you'll get).  Unfortunately because this place is open 7 days a week they can't think of a way to allow people to rend it for parties.

Those of you who have held romps at doggy daycare places...were they NOT open 7 days a week?  Is that how it was possible?  I'm so bummed that even though this place would be willing to do it, they can't.  Wondering how the logistics worked at the places you've been to.

We have a local "high end" pet center that has a very large back room that they use for training and agility. They are going to let us rent it out for our CT Doodle Romp that we're planning for late March/early April. Their only stipulation is that the trainer has to be their for "supervision". I think that has to do with Insurance restrictions. They also open it a couple afternoons each week (also with the trainer) as an indoor door park. Our Daycare doesn't rent out their facility.

We had a birthday party doodle romp indoors in NJ..I think the dogs acted different than when the meet and play outside. We all had fun, but I just like the outdoor ones better. I would still do the indoors, as I like the get togethers and the weather is never a problem.
Where is this place?
Andrea Payne organized the Northern Virginia indoor romps. Not sure if the place is a 7 day a week place though.
I recently visited a doggy daycare facility in my area that does have romps, and they are open 7 days a week. They are only available for romps (or parties) on the weekends. I would think that most people who use doggy daycare facilities use them M-F while they are at work, so that's why they only allow the romps on the weekends, when they aren't busy. They also have 24 hr boarding, but there is a separate area for that.
Maybe as time passes, your new local place will see that they don't have any "daycare" business on the weekends, and they will open it for parties on weekends.
The problem at the one near me is that they charge $100 per hour for the "party" area.
$100 is not so steep if enough people come, though.
Well, the maximum is $200, they only hold romps from 12-2 on Sat & Sun. So split between 10-20 people, it would only be $10-20 each. But it isn't really a very big space. If some people had more than one dog, and brought spouses, kids, etc., I don't really think you could have more than a dozen individual families.
Very timely discussion as this is one of my projects for our romps here in Arizona before we get into the 100's. Degrees, not $$$$.
I am currently waiting for a few doggie daycare centers to call me back. I have asked for 2 hours, on a sat or sun. and it would be fine if other dogs that they have at the center participated as it is hard to ask them to keep thier clients seperate. I "suggested" we'd be open to a small charge of say $5.00 per dog / person and that the owners would stay with thier doodles as it is a social event for them as well.

One was very interested as the economy has really taken a toll on the daycare centers here and 2 local ones have recently closed. I will let you know as things progress.
The Camp Bow Wow by me holds romps 1-2 times monthly, indoors or out depending on weather. They are open 7 days a week, but their hours on the weekends are different than during the week. The romps are on Saturday mornings at 11:30 and they are free. I have gone to one and plan to go to the next one this Saturday. Of course, these aren't doodle romps...open to all breeds. I would love to find (and attend) a doodle one.
I have our local romps at a doggie daycare facility. They are open on Saturdays only till 1 and not at all on Sunday, except their boarding pick up hours late in the day. We can have our romps there on weekend afternoons starting just after their boarding dog mid-day walks and we just end before boarder pick up time. Also, FYI, we are not charged. The daycare donates gift packages for our raffles. The owner does it for the publicity, hoping the doodles start coming for daycare or to use his groomers or boarding facilities. I also have a friend who goes to a Camp Bow Wow daycare locally and she says they would host for us as well.
We just had Agnes' birthday party at Dogtopia in Raleigh (doggie day care). It was awesome!! They are open 7 days a week, but they usually have extra room on the weekends... open for romps, etc. You just need to reserve in advance. We had our own room (the smallest, called the "Toybox") for 7 large dogs. They have a big gym for large groups too. They also have "meet-up" groups. Okay, this sounds like a plug...sorry. But it was great -- and NO fee for the parties/meet-ups. AWESOME! The dogs loved it -- they had a blast -- no problems!
