Don't know if anyone on DoodleKisses can help foster this doodle but thought I would post the link. I saw this post on petfinder today. I am in the Nashville area and have certainly thought about fostering this beautiful boy all day, but I have two 75 lb rowdy doods and I'm not sure we would be the best environment for a quiet doodles recuperation. http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=15723833?rvp=1
Oh my, I'm crying I'm so thrilled that someone has stepped in to help this doodie! I have paced the floor all day trying to decide if I should say Yes, I can foster him, but I didn't want to have him scared and trying to heal after that horrible experience and have my mega monster doodles all over him. Franklin is only about 35 miles from me. I have very large doggie crates with cow mats for cushions and I could get him and keep him in a crate in my bedroom if I need to do that for anyone. I know that Smyrna, GA is a long way to drive (I lived in Marietta for many years) and I am thrilled that someone will do this for him. I'm watching the posts to see if anything needs to be done and if I can help in any way I'll try hard to do it. Squirrellymom@hotmail.com -- I'm in Wilson County too so I wondered if Wilson was found somewhere around here.
I'm so glad that this guy is being helped. Frannie and Judi, you're the best. Please keep in mind, everyone, that this dog is currently under the care and control of the Critter Cavalry Rescue, and they are the only ones at this point who can decide what needs to be to be done and who is going to do it.
We'll be all be watching this discussion for further updates.
UPDATE!!!! I talked to the Candice (person in charge) and Wilson developed a hematoma in his shoulder, so he will be staying at the vet for a few more days. She would like to put him with us because we have another goldendoodle, but would prefer to keep him closer since her vet gives her better deals (she's thinking in case something else pops up). She has other foster applicants willing to take him, so he will be safe either way, but will give me a call if she decides to send him to us. It's really hard for me because he is the sweetest looking dood and I would love for him to be here with us to heal and I know Timbow would be a great foster brother to him, but she needs to do what's best for her and her rescue organization. The DRC also contacted her, but I guess she wants to keep him to adopt out from her organization!? Pray that he will fall into the right hands and live the long happy healthy life that he deserves.
Good private rescues are very careful about choosing adoptive homes, and this is a good private rescue. It's not like a public shelter where the first person to pay the fee gets the dog. I'm sure Wilson will be placed in a wonderful loving home.
Thanks so much for wanting to help him, Judi.
Judi, if things change and you do get to foster Wilson, I'm thinking I could get him and make him comfortable in a crate in my car and meet you around Chattanooga/Dalton area. If anything like that needs to be done, I'm ready to do it. I just don't want my doods pouncing and rolling him around while he recovers. I'll bet he is scared to death of other dogs after being mauled while incarcerated!
