Oh, poor baby dog... We haven't decided whether or not we're going to have Boo fixed... Just can't stand the thought of putting her thru it... (I'm a wimp.)
Oh my goodness. Spaying is not nearly as hard on a dog as a litter of puppies! EVER. In humans it takes the body a year to recover from one baby. It takes just days to get over a spay.
My friend lost her dog while she was giving birth to 3 puppies just a few months ago. Please read up on the literature and reconsider. Thanks Tina. Besides, did you know that today--there is more than 1/4 of a million unwanted dogs in shelters. That is just today! So many homeless.
I wasn't really considering having grand-dogs either. Just not putting her thru spaying. I KNOW that I would never be able to part with her puppies and my husband's not willing to have that many doggy kids at one time. So, puppies really aren't a consideration either.
I've also read that having them spayed before their first heat is highly recommended to prevent certain kinds of cancer. But I have researched it and I'm not convinced it's the thing to do.
Thanks for the input though, Joanne. It looks like this is an important issue to you and you must really love animals!
