Well this isn't one of my favorite topics I just had to ask... My dogs have terrible gas including Lincoln my Goldendoodle. I feed them Blue Buffalo Large Breed, and Blue Buffalo canned Chicken and Brown Rice, Lamb, and Fish with Sweet Potato. I'm also letting them eat Pork raw hides, and give them Mother Hubbards biscuits. I never feed them table scraps or people food except maybe a real piece of chicken or beef or potato every now and then, but not often. Help I'm being fumigated on a daily basis!!!!
I am no expert, but raw hides seem to cause gas in a lot of dogs. They aren't the easiest to digest. I feed Mother Hubbard biscuits and haven't had any problems. And your food is a high quality food and I haven't heard of any dogs having bad gas from it so far.
My first suggestion - omit the raw hides and see what happens...good luck!
I agree, if I had to pick something he's eating as the culprit, pork rawhide would get my vote. But it could be a combination of things.
Lots of discussions about gas causes & solutions in The Food Group. Here's one: http://www.doodlekisses.com/group/thefoodgroup/forum/topics/experie...
I would guess raw hide too. I do remember another DK member's doodle getting gas from one of the Blue Buffalo flavors though. They switched to a different flavor (I think they went from chicken to lamb) and no more gas. :)
Thank you everyone!! I thought it might be the rawhide as it seems to happen while they are chewing. I guess I will remove the pork first. The only thing is is that Lincoln is only 1 year old and without something to chew he bothers my other dog or actually they bother each other. I'm still working on that issue too!!! I can't seem to get Lincoln to leave Scottie alone and then Scottie starts edging Lincoln on...Anyhow back to the gas at hand...I guess all raw hide is out then right? Bully Sticks are great but they are so darned expensive, and they don't seem to care much about the real bones, and they are expensive too. Has anyone noticed how expensive all these things have become? Any suggestions...?
@Heidi Blue Buffalo gave your dog gas? What brand did you switch to?
Wow who would have thunk it?!!! Do they lose interest in them after a while? That was the problem with the real bones. They don't even look at it after.
