Cooper tells me he would REALLY like a March Romp!  Anybody interested?  I am new to the group, so what do we need to do to get one set up?  We want to meet some other Portland doodles!!!

Well, I'm interested! I'm relavtively new too so don't know how these things are run. My Lucy is just 4 months old and has been going to Puppy Romps for the past 6 weeks. Its taken her several visits to start to enjoy playing with the other pups, and although she likes it now, she finds the other pups too aggressive to really enjoy fully. She's more of a romper than a wrestler. There was another doodle there for a couple visits who had the same idea of play as Lucy, but she hasn't been back in weeks. I'd love to find other doodles for Lucy to romp with, although she may still be a bit young to play with adults. I don't know. She's about 30lbs with a potential of getting to 60lbs, so she's not a small dog.
Coop is full grown and only 30lbs, so I think Lucy and he might play well together. Coop also prefers chase games over wrestle games! What side of town do you live on? I am in SE.
Looks like previous Romps have been at Alpha dog. Is that where you go?
Christina, I live in NW, further out, in the Bethany area. We go to Schroeder's Den in Hillsboro for the puppy romps. Unfortunately, the 1hr weekly romps are only for puppies up to the age of 6 months. I'll have to look into Alpha dog. I've not heard of it before.
Alpha dog is right downtown, so it is pretty central to everyone. Cooper and I looked at it for his daycare but ended up going somewhere else. The owner is super nice, and I think when we want to have a romp we just call him and set up the date/time. I was hoping we would get more feedback - it's not much of a romp with only 3 doodles! Maybe some more people will show interest soon?!?!?!
Yeah, this group has been pretty inactive during the winter months. I'm not sure why if the romps have taken place indoors. Maybe there was a problem somewhere along the line. I'll keep my eyes peeled for more feedback. Maybe we can rally enough members to join in.
We'd be interested in attending a March Romp depending on date/time. The previous romps at Alpha Dog where fun.
Thanks!
Charity and I would be interested in a March romp depending on the date and time. We live in SW.
Charity is full grown but only 20 pounds so she is a little squirt. She is very timid especially with big dogs. Had a bad experience in a dog park. It takes her a while to get comfortable. When you throw a ball she's your friend for life.

Thanks!
We'd love to do another Doodle Romp! The group sponsored one in January was a total hoot and easy for us to get to since we live very close to St. Vincent Hospital. Sammi (& seemingly the rest of the Doodles) had a blast, running just for the joy of running and there was very little wrestling! The most contact came when another juvenile Doodle, Joey, decided to get frisky with anything that moved, hee! However, Joey's mom & dad immediately corrected Joey each time. We just need to know a week or so in advance to make sure my husband, Steven, isn't on call and can come too.
I attended to romp at Alpha in January. My dog Riley is now 26 pounds and about 11 months old. He enjoyed himself there, but was more interested in meeting/greeting all the people than interacting with all the dogs. Have a video of that romp on my site. Would like another romp to attend in March if possible.
After giving it a lot of thought, I've decided to wait for Lucy to mature a bit before bringing her to the Portland romps. She has puppy classes with puppies a month older than her and they're really too much for her to handle. I'm just afraid adult dogs would overwhelm her. She's good with smaller puppies right now, but honestly, she's the mellowest of all the puppies (of any size) I've seen play. She loves to romp and run but hates getting bit, pinned down, etc. I think she needs to get bigger and mature more. So for the next 2 months, Lucy will be going to her once weekly puppy romps, and then, well, we'll just have to see how she does with older dogs. Maybe all doodles play the same, and enjoy running and romping as much as Lucy, I don't know. I just have experience with the general population of puppies in puppy class and puppy romps. It would be good to hear how everyone's doodle plays.
Cooper also likes to run and chase much more than wrestle. He only weighs 30 lbs, so sometimes I worry about him with bigger dogs too. He has also been chased a little "rough" at the dog park before, I think mostly because he thinks running and being chased is fun, until the other dog takes it a little too far.
I have never been to a doodle only romp, so I guess I will see how they all play together in a couple of weeks. :)
So like do we know how many Doodles are going to make it next Sat the 27th? Do we need a RSVP?
