This past Thursday morning we woke up at 3AM to find Bella in the middle of a Grand Mal Seizure. The seizure lasted about 5-6 minutes (after we got to her) and then as she was "coming out of it" she turned totally viscious - tried to attack me and then our other doodle (Rozee pushed me away and got between Bella and myself!). Of course, as soon as possible we rushed her to the vet on call at our clinic and she felt it was Epilepsy. We're also having her thyroid checked. Since Bella also has Addison's Disease we're checking to make sure there is no connection (we're being told that the two are NOT connected at all). Any other Doodles out there with Epilepsy? We'd love to connect and compare notes. This was the most awful experience we've ever had with any of our dogs.

Sorry to hear about this. Unfortunately we are currently also dealing with an increase in seizure activity with Mariner. We have not gone the bromide route but that may be next. One other thing you may want to try is melatonin at night. This may help but ask your vet first.

I know this is tough to go through - hang in there!!!

poor dog and poor you guys, Boston has never been this bad and no seizures that we know of since he started on his meds, I do not want to see another seizure, I would probably do the MRI to rule anything out in the brain (could have a tumour) just cause I love my dog so much, it might be hard to talk my hubby into spending that kind of money even though he loves him just as much, but i'm sure I'd win. i wonder if your friends knew his seizures were this bad and that's why they no longer wanted him? I wish you lots of luck
