Ok...here is the deal, scout goes to the door to go out, makes no sound, I can be 3 steps by him, see him as he arrives at the door and as I step to let him out, he is already peeing on the floor....he is 10 weeks, will this get better, we cant get to the door any faster.  also, how do you know if he has a blatter infection????  Will he get better at holding it?  Also, he seems to have to go alot more at the dinner evening hours while he can hold it pretty long during the day.   any thoughts....thanks,

I agree with everything Nancy has said. We used the bell with Tori and she learned it very quickly. So well that she tried to use ringing to go out and play too. Just bring him right back in if you notice he wants to play. Tori actually plays in a totally different area in our yard than she potties, so as soon as we walked out the door and she ran to go to the play area, I would bring her to the potty area, and if she didn't potty, I would bring her right back in. We also got a different leash for pottying and one for playing. AMAZINGLY, Tori actually learned which leash was for which and knew I meant potty or play. Now she grabs the leash she wants too. These doodles learn so quickly!!!!! Good luck! It WILL get better.
At that young age we walked our boy out on the leash to pee every hour or so. If he made an "indication" or we were removing him from the crate after a few hours in there, we scooped him up tucking his tail beneath him and carried him outside. This left no chance for him to eliminate before getting all the way to the door.
At this age, take him out routinely at least every two hours.
With some pups way more often even. Rosco went pee every 15-20 minutes at that age (if he was up and playing, that is).
He is so little - it will take a little time. It took us awhile to catch on, but we learned we had to take Dex out on leash every 30 minutes while we were home and awake. If he drank, we would take him out even more often. We also kept him on a leash with us at all times when he was not in his "crate". By ~4 months he hardly ever had an accident and by 5 months we almost totally trusted him.
I second what others have said. First, take a deep breath. Ahhhh. Now relax. You are worrying yourself silly lately =) That doesn't mean you shouldn't ask questions, but don't worry that there's something wrong just because he does things differently than you want your adult dog to do. He's VERY young and just like with babies...peeing/pooping/sleeping and all that stuff is WAY different early on.

As to peeing so quickly...pups have a super short attention span. He's only known for a few weeks that he can even control his peeing...so by the time he realizes "oooh I gotta pee...must go outside..." he probably can't hold it in any more. Sometimes my Rosco would be playing, walk over his dog bed and go pee right there and then keep walking to play more... Puppies are flighty...they're not mature yet. They will mess up often. Be patient, it WILL get better =)
Carry him out and he will hold it until you put him down. At least that is what I did with Ned from our bedroom to the great outdoors in the mornings when he was little.
