UGH! I thought Tori was over her grab and run and chewing stage. Last night she grabbed a towel I had draped over my railing to dry her muddy paws, and snuck away with and chewed off 2 small pieces from the corners. I'm waiting and praying for them to pass. Deidre- You actually made me feel better when you said it took a couple of weeks to come back up.. I'm hoping we're as lucky... I'll tell you this dog would eat steel if she could!
Well... I found 2 pieces this morning... hope the rest will come out...I guess there would be signs if she was bothered by them.... at least it wasn't an actual WHOLE sock... my goodness these doodles are NUTS! LOL
Last night Chewie got my husband's Chicago Blackhawks baseball hat and chewed the patch right off of the front. This is the first thing he has eaten. I will be on the look out for those to pass also. I hope it does not make him sick. Maybe just stealing socks is not so bad ......
Cooper has chewed the handle of a flexi leash before, and her blanket is full of holes. She has chewed up 2 beds before too., She will steal socks if she can. But shes not as bad now I have bought her some stuffing-less toys!
Callie is a sock and undergarment hunter too. It can be VERY embarrasing. A few weeks ago, I had an HVAC guy coming to the house to give me an estimate on some work. I ran late and pulled up at the same time as the service guy. The den was full of socks and undies and I KNOW I turned 18 shades of red! The guy just laughed and said that he had two boxers and how much they loved his boxers (I sort of felt like it was TMI, but I was in now position to judge!)
Chewie has moved on to DH's favorite Chicago Blackhawks hat !!! This is the first thing that he has ever destroyed. Chewed the patch right off of the front. Maybe I won't complain about socks ........
Winston is a sock boy. He has had surgery at 4 months to remove a sock he couldn't pass. He is now 17 months old and there are been several more socks eaten, but thankfully no more surgeries. I try very hard to keep all socks out of his mouth. He also likes paper towels. His mother liked to eat fabric so it maybe in his genes.
What I want to know is, do they ever outgrow the urge to eat things other than food? Pepsi is just 10 months old and has eaten socks (which he threw up after 3 days), a plastic shovel, crayons, and most recently, an entire artifical flower, stem and all! We did not know he ate it. When he started to get sick I took him to the vet, who checked him over and decided he just had a bug. He did start to get a bit better and so I took him for a walk and out he poops this 12" flower! I am not kidding. Well, I had to help him by pulling it out but OMG!!! Thank goodness the wire was extremely flexible and plastic coated, otherwise I cannot imagine what this would have done to his insides. I am a freakishly tidy person and it frustrates me that he gets into things without me even realizing it. He is confined to the laundry room while we are out (hence the socks, which he surfed from the top of the dryer) he is not allowed in the basement or the second floor of our house where toys are kept, the main floor is so clean it is almost sick! Yet things still happen. If he survives to his first birthday I am going to throw a huge party. It has become a running joke in my extended family about what he will eat next, and those who had promised to babysit him if we go away are now running in the other direction. My husband said that I am like a magician, instead of pulling flowers out of my sleeve, I can pull them out of a dog's butt.

Please tell me there is light at the end of the tunnel for this! Please let there be a party!
OMG BRENDA!!! I am still sitting here with my mouth open!!! Tori had an episode of vomiting which soon turned to diarrhea, and then to diarrhea streaked with blood. she has had an episode in the past of pancreatitis from eating boneless pork from a chinese restaurant thrown in the garbage, so I feared it was a recurrance... but a very long story short, which I had posted in November... an x-ray showed it was NOT a recurrance, but she had swallowed a tiny screw from the back of a battery compartment toy( I actually saved it and took a picture - it's on my photos here -lol)... I. too am ALWAYS trying to keep everything out of reach of her, and to this day I cannot figure out WHERE she got it from. Such a teeny tiny thing caused such havoc, but thank GOD she passed it - after a day and night w/ IV and an over night stay at the ER. And just when I think she's gotten better... she ate that piece of towel. (She'll be 2 on the 20th of this month) - BUT that flower.... tops ALL I have ever heard! LOLOLOL. I can't wait to tell my extended family and friends, as they think Tori "has issues" (I can't imagine why...)- lol
NOT to make light of your situation, but the visual is hilarious. I hope there are no rabbits around Houdini Brenda!
This story had me laughing so hard! A flower out of the butt!!!! Love your description! Glad you can laugh and keep your chin up about it! :)
Funny - my kids must be related to PEPSI! - As they think that I can pull money out of mine - LOL
