Noah can be independent and go off by himself and nap in the bathroom, but whenever he's on my bed, he insists on resting his head on my leg, or putting his leg on my leg.  I think he does this so that he knows if I get up in the middle of the night.  When my mom watched my dogs, she said that Noah also rested on her legs as well.  Another funny thing that Noah does.  He wants to always sit on my lap while he eats his chews!  So weird.  Anyone else's doodle have these quirks?  Right now Noah is sleeping with his head on my shin lol.

Yep, Wrigley is the exact same way. If we're in the bed she either has her entire head on my leg, her chin propped on my foot, or even her leg stretched over my leg. If I scoot over, she scoots with me. She does sit on my lap all the time when we are on the couch, but when she's chewing something she usually leaves her rear in my lap and stretches out to chew. Like Noah, she can go off and do her own thing, but she loves her Mama! It is so funny how so many of them have the same tendencies!
The chew part reminds me of Allie. That is the ONLY time she will use her Dog Bed - chews and treats! Not a lap story - but still a particular chew quirk ;)
Harlow doesn't always sleep in bed with us but when she does she likes to sleep on the pillows above our heads and rest a paw on my shoulder.
Darwin always wants to chew his antler or Kong with his chin propped up on something. It's always a pair of our shoes... or our actual feet. So weird!
Yes! I sometimes feel like Callie would actually crawl into my skin if she could! She always sleeps with me and likes to start out the night laying with her head on my chest. She does then move to her own space, but by morning she's always touching me, usually with her butt (thanks Callie!). Wilbur Foster Doodle is also a toucher - he sleeps curled up tight against me every night.
I think the dogs want human contact as much as we want their contact. Touch is super important to them, and it strengthens the bond between us. Out of our 2 doodles, one is super cuddly, the other only when she is tired. Just like people, some love physical contact, hugs, hand holding and others don't. It's sweet of them and super cute. I wish my dogs could sleep with us but there would be no room on the bed!! Besides when Duke starts scratching he'd shake the whole bed. When ever I am on the floor Sheba lays close to me but Duke must be on top of me...he pushes Sheba out of the way to get to me.
Yes. Webber puts his foot across my ankle. Or his head on my leg. I love it. It seems like a purposeful wanting to be in contact with me as opposed to random tail wagging for food.
our doodle, all 85lbs, loves to be near you if not on you, they have a very cuddly disposition which we love that is one of the traits I loved about this breed, he used to try to get my hubby out of bed so he could get in lol
