How long does a bag of food last you (new puppies)?

OK, I looked through the first 14 pages of Puppy Madness discussions and searched but did not find a discussion on this. I probably missed it, so sorry if it has already been discussed!!

I am wanting to know what kind of food you feed and how long does a bag last you (average) for a new puppy (8-16 weeks)?

I am trying to decide what kind of food to feed my Doodle (which I will pick up on Friday yay!!). The last time I had puppies I raised them on Pedigree puppy the adult for pretty much their whole lives. Now I am hip to the higher end foods and since I will only have 1 puppy (+ 2 small dogs) I can afford to get something a little more suited to my dog's diet needs. I am *thinking* about keeping him on Orijen (the breeder is feeding him this now). But just in case this food doesn't agree with him, I might have to try something else. And even though the foods cost more I know that you don't have to feed as much due to lack of fillers.

Yes he is a standard Dood. In the past I have kept my pups on a puppy formula for the first year, so I will likely do that as well. I love that they have the variety of flavors! I think it is good to introduce your dog to many types of healthy foods so that they can both have variety and be used to new things.

Thanks so much for the advice! I feel good about the Fromm so far, at least reading the package, haha. Hopefully it sits well with the Doodle too.

I fed Shelby Origen and Wellness early on. She had a long stretch of really soft stools - cow patty like. After restricting her to kibble only and doing 3 weeks of pro-biotics, the vet thought the high protein content may have been too much for her system. I have since transitioned her to Eukenuba puppy (as per the Vet's recommendation) and she is doing much better - her poops are great! The vet said I can try the higher protein foods once she is a year old... and she might be able to tolerate it better. How long the bag lasts... I have no idea, don't really pay attention I guess!
