Does anyone know what kind of clippers your professionals use in dog grooming shops? How do they do so many dogs in a day without wearing out their blades? I have two Doodles, give them haircuts every 8wks. so that's 12 haircuts a year and have now gone through two Andis 2speed Clippers...they get cleaned during and after every grooming and oiled as recommended. It would cost me on an average of $720.00 a year for grooming when I can do it for less and enjoy doing it if I could find a pair of clippers that worked? Where can I send them for repairs....where can I purchase xtra blades????? HELP DK groomers...Honey is becoming a little fat fur ball of matts and soon she won't have anything left..joking.

Most equipment comes with a good warranty. If you are in the warranty timeline, send them off to be repaired. Before you do this make sure your blades are cleaned regularly and maybe they need sharpening. To extend the sharpening lifetime, you are not supposed to trim wet or dirty coats. I never do the wet coats, but I do use them on dirty coats. I have to get my blades sharpened more often because of this.
Use Cool Lube several time during one session. Always monitor how hot the blade is getting to the touch and cool regularly. Clean and oil the blade after each use and in the middle of a grooming if it starts to run slow.
I have both Oster A5 and Andis 2speed clippers. I use the Andis ones exclusively since I got them about 4 years ago. They are working very well.
Thank you for the tips, I have clipped a few dirty coats because it was easier than taking them to the dog wash in the cold weather. Never heard of the Cool Lube and will be trying it soon, rather than waiting till the blades cooled down. As for the warranty I think we are past that time line, but checking on it tomorrow. Also trying to locate a phone number for them...
OK every one STOP throwing away your clippers Just mail them in to be serviced with your blades, they will replace the bushings and blade drive, I am a professional groomer of 18 years, I have owned 3 pairs in that time span I do at least 10-15 dogs a day 5 days a week. about every 4-6 mths I have my blades sharpened But I have 7 of each. Just a note I HATE the Oster but many people love them I only use Andis 2 speed. They don't blow in your face I also only use cool lube called cool care plus by Andis. Hope this helps.
Where do you send your blades to be sharpened?
Where do we get our blades sharpened at?
My friend is a groomer and has been showing me how to get the doodle look. She picked my clippers/blades. It's the Andis 2 speed.
Lucky you, my friends see me grooming and come back to visit another day...lol
Extra blades aren't a problem to find on the internet. If you need repairs or sharpening, check the Groomers Lounge-- a number of their sponsors provide sharpening.
Thank you for your tips Charlie and Me
Denise- Pet Edge http://www.petedge.com/ has the blades, sharpner and all kinds of neat grooming supplies. I just ordered a few things. You can request the catalog on line or just browse the pages.
Thank you so much Pat..will be checking this out...also heard there is suppose to be someone down in Line Lexington who does blades...have to see if I can find out who this person is again....
Do we send them back to Andis if they are not under warranties, This is the only address I have for Andis clippers...1800 Renaissance Blvd. P.O.Box 085005 Racine, WI 53408-5005, they provided me with no information as to where to send these clippers if they broke down.

I did some research also and found these sites, has anyone dealt with them? :
