My wonderful, sweetheart of a Dood, Darby is an extremely picky eater. I'm at a loss as to how to entice her to eat any kind of kibble. We have tried almost every kibble out there that is considered to be good. The only things she willingly eats are table scraps (which I give sparingly and only because I don't know how she doesn't keel over from lack of food) and canned dog food(we give her Blue).

She will not touch kibble... any kind...

I'm at a loss.  Is it ok just to feed canned dog food? I've wasted soooo much money on expensive food (kibble) that she refuses to eat. She's 11 months old, weighs 55lbs and is in excellent health... So apparently Darby can survive on little to no food. .

Darby is my first dog that will not eat. All my others LOVED food.  She is my first Dood though, and I have read poodles can be picky eaters. I'm at a loss... any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

She is adorable. She reminds of how Ned looked but he was bigger.
Personally, I don't blame Darby for not liking kibble....I wouldn't like it either! I don't even like cereal!!!! At any rate, Cooper also HATED kibble, plus he would often throw it up after a couple of hours. It definitely didn't agree with him. I called the breeder to see what he had been fed as a baby, and she always fed raw. I switched Cooper to raw, and never looked back. He loved dinner time now, eats all his food, is a healthy weight and has a beautiful coat and "good poops." It worked very well for Cooper, but I know it's not for everyone. That's just my experience for what it's worth...
Oh, and I was VERY concerned about the safety of raw. I called the company here in Portland that makes it, and forced them to let me see the plant and testing, etc. It is very safe and I was impressed by their safety measures. I think it is probably better regulated than people food....at least at the high-end raw food companies....
Which raw food company are you using in Portland? Seems there are a few options here in the NW and I am interesting in looking into them more. I got some good info from one of the DK moms here about raw feeding, but still not really thrilled about needed to tether the pup at feedings in order to avoid having a raw chicken wings all over my house! So, still trying to find different options. I am feeling like we are over the kibble stage also... he eats it but I almost always put something on it to entice him to eat and it just seems silly to work so hard to get him to eat something that probably doesn't taste great.
You just have to outwait Darby. Put the kibble down and leave it 15 minutes, then pick it up. Do this twice a day. No treats except kibble and then only very occasionally. No table food, no comments on not eating, no baby talk, no exceptions. Unless there some underlying health issue, Darby will be eating in a week. Get the eating habit very firmly established before you go back to other treats and the occasional table snack. It really works honestly, Darby just has you trained. Smart little darling isn't he?
