Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

hey guys
my pupppy is coming home next week. After I talked to the vet today to make an appt for emma, he told me that goldendoodle are very rambunctious.  I surprised because the parents were just lovely. and Emma's a year old sister too. very wwell behaved. he said they are tame but when they're puppies they chew up things etc.
that sorta scared me. i have my bitter apple spray ready . any thoughts or suggestions to help prep me :)

I'd say puppies are puppies. I do know my guy reacts to our energy to a point. If we're excited he gets super excited and if we're calm and talking quietly he often reacts by calming down. I'd say be prepared with a crate and also try to limit the area in your home that he has free range to. The first few weeks require alot of attention to the puppy and after that as you get to know each other it gets a little easier. Enjoy his puppiness it's the best!!!!!! Emma looks like a little darling!
Congrats! Puppies can be rambunctious, just like kids (snips and snails and puppy dog tails!) but you'll get a head start with reading - my DIL sent me "Puppies for Dummies" which has been a perfect reminder of do's and don'ts from when I last went through this 15 years (and several chewed up slippers, socks, books, etc) ago. Crating and constant watching is a must, chew toys handy. I say that but I have a fear of how invitingly yummy the corners of the oriental rug the living room is going to look to those puppy eyes. Good luck and share what works!
