Hi.  The picture is graphic, but my dog Matilda was injured.  I need comments on what you think it is.  This picture was taken 2 days after she was groomed by a new groomer.

Thanks

Where is that on her body..? Under the tail..?
Yes. Her anus is in the middle. I have my own guess, but I don't want to taint others opinions.

I totally agree with Jane. Take her to the vet and also confront the groomer. Poor baby.
Almost looks like it was a burn..maybe the dryer was too hot or too close.
I really don't know what caused this, but it certainly looks like it would be very sore. I would definitely want to know from the groomer exactly what happened. I agree also that I would want the vet to take a look at it. Poor Doodle.
Thanks so much. I am not going crazy lol Here's what happened and what steps have been taken. New groomer at a kennel. Took Matilda there last Thursday, told the groomer to shave her down for the hot weather (it was 75 that day) and also told the groomer NOT to shave too close on Mati's bum. Other groomers have shaved her too close and she gets itchy. I pick up Mati, groomer says she had no mats (which I already knew cause I brush her every other day and I can touch Matilda anywhere, toes, ears, ) Matilda is a very laid back doodle that is not a bully and not afraid of anything. (vacumn, thunder, fireworks etc) I take Mati home and when I get home I notice that she is sitting rather quickly, and when she bends down to drink or eat she arched her back, pulled her tail in and scampered away. I thought okay, she's itchy. Friday morning she goes out to poop. After she poops she scoots on the grass. I go and lift up her tail and saw what you see in the pic. I called the groomer,

What has since happened. Groomer denies hurting Mati which I know is a lie. Tried to contact owner...took Mati to our vet on Saturday..diagnosis CLIPPER BURN!!! If you look closely at the pic. you can clearly see that there is no hair on her left side compared to the right and from top to bottom of pic you can see the path the ciipper took to below her anus. She got meds and since then I have had to take her to the vet yesterday again...owner of the gooming and kennel has never tried to call me and will only email because "it gives me time to think" her words. The humane society has been contacted and they are investigating because if they lie about this, what else? Looks like Small Claims court for me to get reimbursed. Matilda is healing. I will probably blog in more detail later.
Very unfortunate experience for your dog and you. From a groomers point of view, a groomer will never get thru their career without doing a clipper burn at one time.
From your point of view, they should have told you immediately, not let you find out and if they truly didn't know, they should have paid vet expenses at the very least as soon as they heard about it.
You are right about wondering how honest they might be with other issues too.
It is extremely hard to tell an owner that you injured their baby, but it goes along with the responsibility of the job.
Oh, geesh..that is a nasty clipper burn..poor baby! Do you have some sort of balm you could put on it..? I hope she is feeling better soon.....
Thanks Barb. No one is perfect and accidents do happen, but I would expect that when a groomer does this that they would fess up and apologise. Telling me that they had never seen anything like that and that they did not do it leads me to the point,if you lie about this what else do you lie about. When I took Matilda back there on Saturday to show them, Mati shook like a leaf which she never does. I think she was telling me something. I have the BEST vet and Mati is on antibiotics and an ointment for the burn. The vet says it will scab over and sluff (sorry for the spelling) off. The owner of the place has never talked to me or even met me or Matilda, yet she says in an email that she has done a complete investigation. She said she would give me the grooming fee back but not the vet bills which are much higher. Why would a business return my money if they did nothing wrong? Something is fishy. I do not think that they want to accept responsibility because they fear a lawsuit. I just want to be reimbursed. I had to feed Mati by hand and bring up her water dish to her face so that she could eat and drink because like I said, when she bent over she would arch her back, tuck in her bum and scamper away. The next time your dog drinks from a bowl watch their body. The movement they make when drinking would cause stretching of the skin and that is probably why Mati couldn't do it.
Poor kid - I hope her bottom is feeling back to normal soon. I hate to imagine how sensitive that must be.
