Does anyone have information regarding the following breeder?  I hate to make another almost 8 hour round trip to discover that this is not a reputable breeder.

Ah! And so the name, "Obama Mama"???? Good luck finding the right dog... my friend is just like you... SOME dogs bother her and some don't. So is my mom. Funny - the one dog that gave her the MOST problem was my aunt's POODLE - go figure... good luck again!
Have you thought about asking your neighbor where they got their doodles? Since you know you do not react to those specific dogs, maybe a sibling/relative of them would be less likely to cause a reaction than another dog.
And IMO on price, $1500 seems like a TON of money up front for a dog, but medical bills, allergy meds and shots for you will cost a lot more money over the life of the dog than $1500 now.
I have two doodles and could not count the amount of money I have put into them so far and I have been pretty lucky. (Don't ask Karen how much she spends on Jack, you won't wanna know the answer, hehe)
I did. I actually knew absolutely nothing about good vs bad breeders until I started reading these posts and neither did they. They both got their dogs in PA Both locations would be considered puppy mills. They did not get the tests that many doodle owners advocate. I spoke to one of the breeders and she sounds wonderful and knowledgeable very much like the breeder I visited. One of the locations actually has a few negative websites dedicated to their "mill". However, they are both healthy dogs with good temperaments so they were lucky.
Oh, I see. Well thank you for wanting to support a reputable breeder. They were lucky, or are so far!
I'm surprised that your Allergist said that! My Husband's Allergist told him not to get a dog!
I was thinking the same thing. It doesn't make any sense to me that an allergist would say one mixed breed is less likely to cause problems than another. If a person is allergic to dog dander, most allergists would advise them not to get a dog, or to get a purebred who is known to be non-shedding.
My allergist has allergies and has a dog himself. He said that of course he is supposed to advise allergy sufferers to avoid whatever they are allergic to. He also said that he tells his patients that have mild to moderate allergies and insist on getting a dog to get an air purifyer, do not allow the dog in the bedroom and you know the rest of the suggestions. I am the one who approached him about the doodles. He is knowledgeable about most breeds. He suggested that I get a maltese and other more hypoallergenic dogs. However, I was adament about getting a goldendoodle. We have known each other for many years due to my son's allergies (not fur or dander). He is aware that I've been exposed to my neighbors goldendoodles and my nieces lab. We talked about a labradoodle and he said that he heard that allergy sufferers are more tolerate of goldendoodles. He did not confirm this, he only said that he heard it. He is a pragmatist, he will give you his professional advice but he also knows that people will not always follow it, especially since he did not follow it himself. He's a dog lover and he takes his allergy medicine faithfully. It's not rare as you may think.
But see your husband did not take his advice. Allergist ALWAYS tell dander sufferers, with mild or severe allergies, not to get a dog and especially a cat. If you love dogs and do not suffer from asthma, then you will do whatever it takes to get what you love. My allergist understands this. He's been an allergist for 30 years. He can relate. He is also allergic to dogs. He has one.
No, we didn't listen to his advice - but we had to make a lot of sacrifices to have a dog. You are trying to see if this breeder is reputable because the price is good. We had to pull up our carpet & refinish our hardwood floors, and now my Husband is on a daily inhaler for his allergy induced Asthma. So if you are going to get a dog regardless, like us - great. But I hope you are willing to make the sacrifices to be able to keep the dog, like us. We ended up spending 5 times the amount of the dog on re-doing our floors, getting air purifiers, buying countless shampoo's & different items that swore would take the allergies away, and now spending money on an inhaler every month. Allie is an F1B as well... and we thought they were good for allergy sufferers too. We wouldn't trade one single minute with her though!
I am so sorry to hear about your husband. I do not have carpeting and I've already invested in an air purifier. Wish me luck! I must say that your Alli is sooooooo adorable.
Thanks! She's a good doggie - we love her!
where do they house all of their dogs? That is a lot of litters to have at one time.
