Hi, we're looking for a goldendoodle, and we live in NJ, about 15 miles east of Easton, PA [but I grew up in Bergen County, by the way :) ]. I think I stumbled onto your profile on this site because at one point you were considering getting a puppy from Pin Oak Farms in PA (although I might be confusing you with someone else, since I've been obsessively trying to research this), and in reading your posts, I feel like I'm reading my own thoughts. My family and I also feel like a standard-size GD would be too big for us, but the mini/medium thing is very confusing. Some breeders seem to label only very small dogs as minis (which we don't want), while others seem to label 25-40 lb ones as mini. And I am leaning towards an English mini GD because I also read that they tend to be calmer, and as we've never had a dog before and I'm somewhat nervous about the whole thing, I'm thinking the calmer, the better. But there aren't many breeders in our area that have mini GDs, much less English mini GDs. And, as you also posted, I'm very hesitant to go with a breeder that's too far away. But it's frustrating enough to be limited to only several nearby breeders, but then to have to narrow those down to ones that have English is very disheartening. Do you get an English or an American? Did you end up getting a mini? Also, did you have any trouble getting responses from breeders? Could you PM me and tell me where you ended up getting your puppy? Sorry for all the questions, but like you, I am so anxious (in both senses of the word) about getting a GD puppy, although, in reading the responses to your posts, the people on this forum are awesome and have helped me to feel less confused and more confident about some of these issues!
That's a mighty cute pup you have there! :-)
