About a week ago our 18 month old GD wet her own dog bed. I was in the same room with her when, without any warning, she squats and pees on it.  It wasn't an accidental piddle either.  I called the vet the following day and she suggested that I bring a urine sample if it happens again.  She has said that it could be UTI (bladder infection) but could also be behavioral.

Tonight, after getting her a new dog bed for less than an hour, she starts scratching (sort of digging) on it then she again peed on it!  Both DH and I were in the same room with her but she didn't signal to go potty.  Needless to say that we were both very unhappy.  Here's what is more confusing, though - after about another hour, however, she went to the (cleaned and dried) bed and laid on it.

I apologize for the long account but you could appreciate how confused and distraught we are by this. I don't think this is UTI but I'll call the vet office tomorrow.  Could she possibly be marking it?  Aren't dogs supposed to be "clean" in that they don't like to soil their stuff, especially not lay on it after it's been soiled?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Our Maddy has done this and each and every time it's been a UTI. I would most certainly call your vet and have her checked especially if she's never done this before.
Have her urine checked...this is probably her way of telling you that she doesn't feel right.
I don't know much about marking but when Calla, uncharacteristically wet my bed, once in her sleep, she did have a UTI. It could be behavioral but it would be surprising to mark her own bed. I'd check her urine.
I would be shocked if it isn't a UTI - they don't like peeing where they sleep.
Any news ? Was it a UTI?
