As per Adina's request.... here is a place for us to discuss our thoughts on the new front page.  I am still navigating and trying to see how I like it... I will say though - that I miss having the slide show up top!

Every member gets this in their welcome from me. So ... a button would be redundant and take up space on the front page.

I have really enjoyed the slideshow and would hate to see it go away. As a new member it took me probably 5-6 weeks to even figure out that I could contribute and get the timing right so I could submit a phot. I've now successfully gotten my Shelby in to 3 slide shows and was looking forward to the challenge of new topics. However... I also like the idea of one photo chosen daily to highlight... keeps the page fresh. I wonder if some of our newer members need a push or encouragement to participate in the slideshow. :o)

Adina, I like the slideshow, but t wouldn't matter if you did it the other way. I kind of like the old main page, I am one that gets nervous with change, lol, but I love this site and whatever you decide iwill be fine with me...But I do like the slideshow on the front page. I wish there could be a space to put the dog and the owners name under the photos..Oops was I supposed to go to another blog site to reply?....

I like how you moved the birthdays to the bottom--there if people want it, but not a looonnnngg scroll down one side.

I'd also make the "support DK" button bigger, or in more of a square block, not just highlighted. It almost looks like another ad on top of the google ads. And it's too important to blend in with the ads.

Well...I couldn't handle it. The slide show is back. My take is that most people liked it or were indifferent to it.
I like that it's somewhat dynamic instead of a static photo. And I like that members can contribute photos to it when they want to. Now...still moving and playing. I also personally LOVE the latest activity prominently displayed and that is also dynamic and ever-changing.

Don't get too attached to anything but YES voice your opinion. We are also working on getting a logo developed and more...keep your eyes peeled. No ETA except...coming up in the future.

Thank you, Adina! I'm so happy the latest activity is back with a font I can see. I guess I don't have to make that Opthamologist appointment tomorrow after all. It really does feel much more dynamic the way you have it now.

You can change the font on YOUR computer. In Firefox you click "View" then "Zoom" and you can even just zoom on the text only. That might help.

I don't mind change but I really liked the old front page better. It seemed easier to navigate and easier to see the newest topics. I LOVE the slide show. I don't always have the theme photo to put in but I LOVE seeing everyone elses photos! I like that everytime I log on there is a different picture up on the slide show.
