I know that Eagle Pack/Holistic Select was acquired by Wellpet, or Wellness a year or so ago. I think Wellness is also owned by Wellpet... but I'm not sure. I'm a little confused by the exact ownership?

When I heard of the change of ownership, I asked the owner of my local pet supply store if they knew what those changes meant. I was told that aside from the packaging, the ingredients were staying the same, aside from them lowering the salt content in some of the formulas. I have researched online and people have said that the formulas have in fact stayed the same. I just worry because I know that although the ingredients may be the same... the suppliers might be different...

Has anyone been  updated on whether or not there have been changes made? If so, were the changes acceptable? I currently feed Darwin Holistic Select, the lamb, chicken and duck formulas.

Here's the run-down on the exact ownership:
WellPet LLC is a cat and dog food company formed by the combination of Eagle Pack Pet Foods and Old Mother Hubbard, after both had been purchased by Berwind Corporation. Their brand names are Wellness, Holistic Select, Eagle Pack, Prism, Hy-Ration, Old Mother Hubbard, Holistix, and (previously) Neura Meats. The company is a fully-owned subsidiary of Berwind Corporation, along with (among others) Elmer's Glue and the National Pen Company.

Some companies will tell you where their ingredients come from if you call or email them. Email seems to be more effective. I would not rely on information from the store owner or people on-line, because they really have no way of knowing where the ingredients come from either, except from the company itself.
The Holistic Select and Wellness lines are the best of the Wellpet brands , IMO. I wouldn't panic or worry, but I would stay alert to possible changes and continue to research other brands. As Dianne always says, you should always know what you will go to if there should be a recall, formula change, or shortage of your current food.
I am worried about her giving me incorrect information, even though she does seem very selective about what she carries. I will send them an e-mail. My backup food is Fromm. I actually prefer it, but I would have to have it shipped to me, so it's not as convenient.
Honestly, Fromm is a better food, but I would not want to rely on having Jack's food shipped, either. You can use the Dog Food Analysis website to compare ingredients in these and other foods you might be considering.
I'm sure the store owner is honest and tries her best to carry high quality foods, but she gets her info mainly from the sales reps. Soemtimes, the reps work for distributors and not for the company itself, as many large corporations only sell their products wholesale to distributors, not to retail stores.
Yeah, I have actually called around and asked people if they would consider ordering in Fromms. Apparently it's not possible, because Fromm's won't go through their distributer.
I have talked to some local stores about carrying Fromm. Only 2 do in the Nashville area. Peri's trainer owns a doggie bakery and sells select high-end food like Orijen. She is working on finding a distributer. Apparently Fromm is very select about who they deal with - I guess that is a good thing? Just wish is was more readily available to folks. Orijen is easier to get around here!
I feed my dogs Wellness as well. I would like to feed them Fromm, but like you, I would have to get it shipped.
