Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Our goldendoodle, Woody, is very food centered and whenever there is food in sight he drools.  The other day my wife was cutting up a pineapple and Woody was watching her and she turned to get a bowl and almost slipped on his drool.  If we are having a snack in the living room or on the deck he will watch us and drool.  We are always having to wipe it up.  Basically, anytime we are eating he drools.  We are beginning to think he may have recessive bulldog or mastiff genes.  Does anyone else have this problem?

Incidentally, he will not touch any food if we say "don't touch," but should we forget to say it he will snag anything he can reach.  He never eats his meals until we say "okay."

Murphy does the same thing. Whenever I'm cooking, he is usually right by my side watching....and drooling. He leaves puddles all over the kitchen floor, because he likes to change positions often to get the best view (and smell). He's great about going to his "spot" while we are eating...no staring or drooling then. It's just the cooking process itself that leads to the "slobber". We actually had a Lab several years ago who also did this whenever he smelled food.
Rosco suffers from this at times too. As he waits by his food bowl, the longer you take to get his food the bigger the drool dripping from his mouth. It's hilarious and a bit gross..LOL.

Our late border collie used to drool on my husband's shoe or knee as he'd watch him eat. She was the ULTIMATE begger because early on she was lavishly rewarded =)
Hunter drools when I unwrap the frozen bones I give her - she gets this look in here eye, smacks her lips and drools until she get its. LOL
Yep, Darwin drools when he sees food as well. Before we got him his doggy harness, we would always have wet shoulders in the car. Every time we pulled up to a drive through, his face was right between our seats, dripping drool all over our arms. Appetizing, right? Ha ha!
Jackdoodle also drools when he is sitting at the pantry door waiting for a treat, or when he knows I'm cutting up fresh food to add to his dinner. He's a big dog and he does sometimes create a slip hazard on the floor.
The only time I've seen my doodle or was it doodles drool is when they've gotten excited by a large gathering of dogs. Food may make them perk up but no drooling.
Snickers drools when we get out a special treat like hot dogs or carnivore crunch it's like he is already experiencing the taste!

Also he drools when he sleeps. When he gets up from a nap there is usually a puddle on the wood floor!
Porter drools when he already has the prized treat in his mouth and is contemplating where to take it to.

When he watches me cook or eat, Porter sits, licks air around my plate, and occasionally burps (probably why he had a brief reflux problem--I think his stomach gets ready to digest too readily).
I haven't noticed either of my doodles drool but my GR would only drool when he saw us eating Doritos! It looked like shoestrings hanging out of each side of his mouth!
Wilson drools too we have him sit for his food and the longer too he sits the drool comes down on to the floor I just smile and chuckle at him. But Wilson does wait until we say okay for his food or treats But if we stop petting him before he is done he gives us his paw and says Keep on petting me

Love my doodle
