Oh That Doodle! (alternate title "Is it just Callie or is it your dood too?")

Every Sunday, I strip the bed and put on new sheets (I love fresh sheets and part of my lottery-winning fantasy includes a staff to change my sheets daily with 1000 thread-count sheets...sighhhh). Callie is VERY against this action. I think that in her opinion, she was JUST getting those sheets nice and dirty and why am I ruining it for her by putting on those fresh sheets? Callie displays her displeasure by standing on the bed as I strip it, making it very diffucult to remove the fitted sheet. She stays in the middle of the bed while I circle around and take up the corners, and then gently slide her off the bed with the sheet. She then promptly jumps back up and camps out on the mattress pad. I say "down" and she basically says "make me". I coax her back down and get the clean fitted sheet on the bed. Then Callie jumps back to the middle of the bed and wags her tail. I spend the duration of this task alternately being frustrated and cracking up! Yesterday I made Calie up in the bed and stuck my head under the covers and barked at her (yeah, I'm that kind of cool). She thought that was an awesome game.

It did get me thinking though...is this just Callie or do other doodles prevent their families from doing a cleaning task, or object to it being done?

(this isn't a kvetch...I know I could just shut the door with her on the other side and the problem is solved)

OMD!! My household chores and cooking are filled with stepping around Charli - which isn't so easy since she is huge (she stood giving my 5'0" sister a hug and she just was just a tad shorter). She just loves stretch out fully to make it more difficult.
I have to beg her to get off the bed just to make it daily and I quietly creep up the steps so she doesn't know I am going to change the sheets. We gave up trying to keep them off (including Mickey when he visits) the bed with muddy feet so my gorgeous silk comforter and all the pillows are in the guest room folded up.
A small price to pay for all the lovin we get!
Samantha, the good child, sees me going over to make the bed and gets off the bed. When I am cooking she lays on the other side of the kitchen, out of the way.
Both of my boys are against bed stripping too. They do exactly the same thing as Callie :). Once the new sheets are on Tyler is not interested in the bed at all anymore but Benny enjoys the fresh smell and loves to lay on the fresh sheets and make them stinky again lol.
This is sorta in the same category, We were at a pet fair and there was an animal communicator there and she talked to our sons gf's dog and apparently one of the things he wants her to do is to leave her dirty sheets on the bed when she leaves for university! The communicator wasn't told that she was leaving. So sheets have the most of "us" on them other than being actually on us. We shed on them so they are prized possessions to the doods.
I'm impressed by everyone who is making their bed daily. I pull up the sheets and blanket and that is it! My comforter, shams, and pillows are all WHITE, which may be influencing that decison. Obviously a pre-Callie purchase! My blanket is a bright white too, but I now have two, so I can rotate and put an extra flat sheet over the blanket to try and keep it reasonably clean. It's all a little messy and pain-in-tush-y but I just wouldn't trade it...I love when Callie snuggles up in bed!
This must be a dood trait. Winston loves the bed and we have the same problems making or changing the sheets. He just plops himself in the middle and stares at you - daring you to move him or the sheets. Of course, he is a big spoiled baby because he sleeps between my husband and I along with our orange tabby. It's nice to be cuddled by a big, furry, fluff dood!
Doods are just designed to be big spoiled furry babies!
"designer dogs" is really just a nice way of saying "big spoiled furry babies." One of my guys does the same thing. The other one gets annoyed b/c he wants me to hurry up so he can recline on my pillows in undisturbed comfort.
I do this to my mom too! Except I get delight out of the sheet disagrding ritual! I love to spin in circles on the bed (I love to spin!) My mom gets so mad bc she cannot remove the fitted sheet adn sometimes tries to bundle me up in it but of course I am too big :-)

Why do you humans change the sheets anyway?? I like when they get all smelly and dirty! I think they are just perfect that way!
Qincy does all of the things mentioned and more. He makes sure I haven't left anything on the dishes when I load the dish washer. He barks at the vaccum, he dislikes the vaccum so much that if it is blocking his way he won't walk by it. He is a terrible sock stealer and makes folding laundry a real challenge. This is a picture of Quincy helping make his brother's bed. He does a better job than his brother.

To funny! Achilles does not do this, however I did experience this with my other doodle Houdini, he would grab anything that had to do with bedding. He would actually take things off my bed, my son's bedding, anything he could lay on. My Dad was going to let him out one day when we had to leave for the day. He opened the door to my living room full of the comforters off of all three of my boys beds our pillows etc... He thought we had left it all out for him.
Tori interferes with 1) vacuuming - she bites it and actually pulls it off the ground 2)sweeping- she tries to walk int he dust and eat any crumbs and 3) laundry - as I too put it on my bed to fold... she lays right on top of the clean clothes and actually has the nerve to growl if I pull something out from under her - toooo funny this doodle is! LOL
