You know... I really needed this group today.

We see beautiful gardens and growth from all over the country. Personal gardens from our friends who live so far away. Sights we can't experience in our own backyards. I've never seen some of these lilies.

Do your day lilies close up every night and then they are gone forever? I think it is sad that they don't stick around longer.

They are called hemerocallis which means beauty for a day. But some of the older clumps can have many, many buds so there are fresh flowers the next day.

Too bad the beauty can last for only a day. Yes, I do have clumps with many buds on mine. I would love to be able to pick them :(

Sometimes I fill a glass bowl with water and pull one of each flower and just let them float . They will last the day just like outside but I get to see them more often inside.

Sometimes the buds will open indoors for a few days, so picking them and putting them in a vase is feasible.
