Did Anyone Buy Thier Doodle an SUV?

I just bought a new SUV. Had a smaller sportier car, but it was time for an update.  All kids are grown and out of the house, no DH, so it's only me and the dogs ( doodle and Yorkie most often the only ones in the car).  I could have bought a a smaller car probably $6-7,000 cheaper, better gas milage, better looking but felt I just had to by an SUV for Tucker- you know- more comfort, safer, dog appropriate.  Did anyone else buy their doodle an SUV or similar situation?  Hope I'm not the only one!

Honda MiniVan Here! All our traveling is now done by vehicle vs. flying, so we wanted room for us, dogs, and everything else that goes along with traveling with 2 large doodles. I'm probably the only non human mom I know that drives a mini van.

There are 3 minivan people on our flyball team with no kids. With all of that flyball stuff, including a couple of dogs and their crates, they all say a minivan is the only thing that can hold it all.

We just got our Honda Pilot. We wanted something with lots of room. We are planning a camping/hiking trip to Colorado this summer and will be taking our dogs. We traveled with them in our truck previously but they got too big for the back seat!

Who would think two retirees would need an SUV, but we definitely do. Between the Doodles and the grandkids we have the one with the optional third row, and we use it more than you would ever think.

We are looking for a vehicle that can be flat towed and is big enough for 4 dogs (three 50 - 60 pounders and a 27 pounder). We have an old jeep wrangler that we now tow but we just can't put the dogs in it to go to dog parks, of course, when we are in our RV. It would be our second car and doesn't need to be fancy but....
So, no, we didn't buy an SUV for our doodle because we already had one, but we do want to buy a car to fit now that we have the two older dogs and two doodles.

We are currently in the market for a small SUV, solely for Darwin. We want to be able to fit his crate in the car for when we visit people, and to give him more room to stretch out.

It is great to have- it just makes me feel a lot safer too. Lots of room. Funny, I had mini vans and SUV when my kids where young and I couldn't wait to get rid of them and get a car. Here I am again with the SUV!

Hahaha! We also are retired and the kids gone. I had a sportier car also (Mercury Cougar) that was my commute car when I was working, but it did not work for two big dogs. I got a Freestyle and my husband built the back for the dogs. Then he got a new truck (Honda Ridgeline) and he built a dog area in the back seat of that. Now our dogs have two cars they can travel in. Groucho Too is too big for any crate. When we just had Hondo, he could ride in anything because he was perfectly behaved, but the second dog . . . new cars needed.

Lynda- great pic. This tells it all. You look like the perfect doodle mom and still very sporty! You do need the SUV with the two dogs and the bikes for sure.

Yes. I bought Ozzie a new Honda CR-V in 2006. We do competition and I was tired of trying to load his crate,dolly, etc into the trunk of a sedan. However he rides in the back seat and NOT in the cargo area. I am terrified of rear-enders!

Thanks to all for commenting! I feel better now that I'm not the only one! Lots of Honda's - that 's what I got too, the CRV. Honestly, Tucker is just loving it- he spreads out in the back, has lots of room and seems a lot calmer than in the back seat of my smaller car. Have to admit - I love it too. Now what does it cost to maintain a doodle??? Add in the price of a new car!
