I am freaking out...Berry was outside for a while and got hold of a baby bunny. And by the time i noticed part of it was eaten...I am freaking out as I am typing this. Firstly, should i be worried about her? Anything i shoudl be doing? I have called the vet but they are on lunch break...In the meantime, i thought i would ask here.

Last summer we had only had Finn a few weeks and he ate a baby bird. I was flipping and called the vet.The receptionist started laughing and said "well Finn is having a great day! " anyway-made me laugh and calmed me down. They said since he had all his shots and the bones etc of a baby are so soft (gross I know) that he would be fine. I could induce vomitting if I really wanted to but they were not worried about him digesting it or getting sick. I was not interested in seeing it for a second time if it was not a problem for him The lady reminded me he was a retriever after all. He was fine. Ate a dead mouse a few weeks after that-my nerves. Became a funny story for us.Good luck- !!
This is common - darn retrievers!!! Check out this forum discussion from a few months ago. I really wouldn't worry:

Got hold of the vet and they said just to watch her today...She is a retriever alright. Just the other day, i was reading a discussion here on whether your dog is more a lab or a poodle and was watching her, and thinking what she is. And she proved me right that she is more of a lab:-) This story started last wednesday when she found 2 baby bunnies, and we caught her on time and made her drop them. Cannot believe we held them in our arms, petted them and put them back in their nests. Since then we have been taking Berry on the leash and she did not have free access to the backyard. Yesterday morning, just before our walk, i noticed that the bunnies were gone and I started letting her out on her own and this happened had to happen today. Worst of all, my daughter saw all these and it was a horrible sight...
Normal dog behavior - nothing to worry about.
It's funny that you say this- just on Saturday i went out back to call emma and she was doing circles around my car- i didnt get it until i saw a baby (and i mean like born like less than 5 days ago) run away into the bushes- for the rest of the day everytime i saw one i had to distract emma from chasing it! haha crazy retrievers!
Oh no! I totally forgot about Sonny eating a bird when he was only a couple of months old... until now. It was so gross. I didn't see him eat it but he started coughing a little then threw up part of an undigested wing. It was so gross and I freaked out too!
my dogs regularly kill and eat rodents in the yard. One thing to look out for is worms... I can't recall which kind, but my dogs have had to be dewormed a few times because they hunt down wildlife on our property.
Bedford is 18 months and ate his 1st bunny last week. At first, he wasn't sure where to eat it but after I tied him out on his line by his dog house...15 minutes later...down the hatch. He was licking his chomps all day. Too bad he now runs after every rabbit he sees, to NO avail. It's probably going to be a long time until he gets another, unless I buy some frozen ones from Hare Today or somewhere.
