Maizey had her second round of vaccines today (distemper and bortadella)... she was pretty quiet and calm all day... drank a TON of water and really slept throughout the day... and then we came home from dinner. She is going BONKERS!! Is this normal for a dog to be super hyper in the evening after vaccinations?? She has never behaved this way (barking, running, going crazy)... or is this her personality just developing!?? I'm concerned...

My Bella is 15wks and just had her last round of shots and rabies today......She was totally opposite she played hard all day with her other doggie friends, shopped at Pet's Mart with me and now she will not move.......I thought she would have been very laid back this am after her shot's but not her......So I am curious as well......

Bella's Mommy

P.S my mommy thinks I am getting to big to fast I weigh 24lbs.
I don't know about the vaccines causing it, but Darwin had "zoomies" every night at 8pm, until he was about a year old. It lasted about an hour, and he just got crazy, running around, rolling, etc. I think it's pretty normal.
I think that is pretty normal doodle behavior. My dogs (4 yrs. and 7 yrs.) still get playful and crazy many times in the evening and wrestle and bark at each other in the yard until they are ready to turn in for the night. If you were out for dinner and left her alone for a while, she probably was just excited to see you. I'd say more her personality (of the doodle variety) than anything to do with shots. Shawn - 24 lbs. at 15 wks. doesn't sound too big or too fast, but I have big dogs. They are about 100 lbs. each. I hope you were expecting a big dog!
Sounds like the "zoomies" to me. Get ready, you're in for a treat. With my guys it's usually happens twice a day, and lasts five to ten minutes. I just stay out of their way. I think it must be a Doodle thing, because none of my other dogs ever did this.
Well that settles that! Haha.. thanks for the info... I guess we are in for many a night of craziness :)
Yup....I think so. It really is fun though. I've gotten to really enjoy watching their zoomies. It's just them "lovin life".
Our girls are 2 y/o and still get occasional evening zoomies around 7:30 pm ..... It was crazy though when they were puppies.
