Fast or Slow?
Stand up or sit-down?

My doodle, "The Dude" takes her time when she eats. Stopping for a break and stroll around the kitchen before returning back to her bowl. She also lies down to eat. I attribute that to her long still goofy puppy legs.

I sometimes think I should have named my dog Houdini instead of Ranger, beacuse its almost like magic how fast she can make her food disappear. I am thinking of investing in a slow feeder- so scared of bloat.
Baxter can eat in less than 2 minutes. I invested in a bowl designed to slow them down. It is like a divided bowl. It has slowed him to 5 minutes.
I definitely do not have to worry about Allie eating too fast. She takes a few pieces and brings them into the kitchen as she chews then she will go back for some more. I think she wants to eat with us because she will not eat at all when we are not home. She is definitely a grazer. Food is not her focus at all but as soon as she hears the ice machine she is first one there for an ice cube but she will have nothing of the ice cube unless you roll it on the floor for her to chase. If the ice cube is just placed on the floor she will have nothing to do with it. Too funny.
Alfie lies down to eat too. He LOVES to eat, but does so in very leisurely fashion! I posted a couple little clips on his blog here:

My two doods are food hogs...they eat standing up and FAST!
My previous two dogs were also food hogs (who used to be nibblers).
Samson has always eaten laying down and he eats slowly but with purpose. People who come over sometimes look at us funny when Samson goes to lay down when it's time for their food and we bring the food dish over to him when it's ready. Shelby is a grazer. She eats standing up (95% of the time), and will drop a few pieces out of the bowl and get those at some point, usually. She never finishes the bowl entirely.
The Dude is ADORABLE! When Callie is the only dog in residence, she is a grazer. She'll generally eat a few bites at dinner time while I eat my dinner, and then finish her meal around 10pm. When we have a guest dog, she tears through her meal so she can go and check out the other bowl.
First of all, the Dude is adorable! Our guy is no chow hound and eats when he likes. Sometimes he finishes all of his food in one day, other times not. He usually just saves 5-10 morsels (for a rainy day?). He also eats slowly and very neatly, starting from the front of his bowl, cleaning it to the bottom halfway across. The back half remains piled high with food until his next meal. He drinks his water from the back half of the bowl so there is no chance of getting his nose wet. Aren't they strange?
She is adorable! Darwin eats pretty fast, standing up. We've put a can in his bowl to slow him down a little. He loves his food!
Chewie eats standing and in record breaking time...I don't know how he gets it down as fast as he does. I think your Dude can eat anyway he wants just because he's so darn cute!
I concur.
I have a low planter stand that holds Harlow's food bowl so she stands to eat. But if I put her bowl on the floor she lays down to eat.
