Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I am also posting this in the name group, but thought I would post it here too... so everyone could participate.

We have talked about why we named our dogs what we did, but I thought it would be fun to post the actual meaning of our doodle's names. I chose Darwin before I found out what his name meant, but found out later that it means " a dear friend" So cute!

Aww! What a great name with a wonderful meaning for an awesome pup!

Zuiko (aka Zooey) = Origin of Light (we named her after the Olympus Camera Lens... yeah, we are not creative people)
Koda (aka Koda-da or Boi-yo) = Allies, Friends, Partner (we chose this name cos it sounds cute)
awe!!!! Allie is Noble, Kind. That she is.
My Allie is also. I did not know that but it definitely fits. Allie was the only name out of a list of names I had come up with that everyone liked. Everyone except my mother that is......She keeps saying it reminds her of some song called "Alley Oop". I told her no one remembers that song unless they are 70+. My son thought she was talking about the basketball move. LOL. too funny.
us too!!!! Allie was the only one we could agree on. Although, she responds to: Allison (when she's in trouble - even though that's not even her name), Doodie, and my Dad calls her Muhammad (Ali), LOL to your son!
I see your family has good taste as well. Never thought of Muhammad and I have never called her Allison. We do call her " the Allie boo" though.
The name Remington is pronounced REHMihNGTahN Remington has its origins in the Old English language and it is used largely in English. Remington's meaning is 'from the raven city'. From hremm which means 'raven' ; tun which means 'town, settlement, homestead'. The first name is derived from the place name of the meaning 'raven city'. Variations of Remington include the English Rem and the name Reminton. Another variant of the name is the English short form Remy.

Hmmmm... not to great of a meaning ...
Phoebe means Goddess of the Night and the Hunt (my son, who named her, has a thing for Greek Mythology)
I remember Greek mythology from high school. It really is interesting.
Peri is short for Peruna, the little pony mascot for my alma mater, Southern Methodist U.
Penny: Because she was the color of one as a pup! I wanted to call her Deefur, as in D for Dog, but wasn't allowed...Hee hee! However, most of the time we just call her Doodle! Seems to suit her.
Whopper was named after the chocolate malt balls which my husband and I love but whopper actually means something exceptionally big or remarkable. We like to think that Whopper is quite a remarkable dog!
Achilles was a Greek hero of the Trojan war and the greatest warrior of Homer's Iliad. Ha ha he is AFRAID of snack trays!
Achilles also has the attributes of being the most handsome of the heroes.
Achilles is a very handsome doodle, so I guess that fits.
