I am in need of some advice from this wise group. I have a 8 month old female Labradoodle who I think needs a play buddy. I am retired and can spend time with the pups. I am thinking that if I got a puppy now, it would be pretty well trained by winter. My husband works from home and can help (a little). Some folks have said to wait until she is 1 or 1 1/2 yrs old before getting the 2nd one. Any advice from those of you who have gotten a puppy when you have a puppy would be appreciated. Thanks
A good fit will come along. There are so many members on this site just like Adina - many ended up with "perfect" rescues that kind of fell on their lap, so to speak. Good, good luck!!!
BTW I feel a little sorry for the guy with the rescue :( (the rescue I mean!)
We got our second dog in March and I have not regretted it for one minute. He was a 10 weeks old when we got him and our other dog was 15 months at the time. I have only had one dog for years, so this was a new experience and I was nervous, but it has been great. Our first dog is a female and the second dog is a male. He is also my first male dog and I think I would always get males after this experience. He is just the best puppy ever. We rescued after our first dog (who lived to be 14) died and we did not have a good rescue experience and I envy those who do, but we were gun shy and that is why we went with a puppy.
Thank you all for your advice and comments. It looks like we will be a Guardian family for a little female pup soon. I will try to load the pic. Oops, didn't work. Well, its on my page if you want to see the cutest pup ever. (Just sayin')
