Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

We got Abbey and thought she'd be apricot... but is blonde w/some apricot on her. She never sheds and has only had one puppy cut, and i didn't want to do that! But she looks better and cleaner! She's an FB1 labradoodle and has pretty much kept her look. I'm not sure how much bigger she'll get.. she weighs 26 lbs now, and is 21 weeks, (5 months?) old. Breeder told me Medium size, and I hope they were right! It doesn't matter how big she gets, tho.. we're so in love w/her!!! I've never seen a smarter dog, too. I guess it's hard to judge how big they get. It's great seeing the other discussions on here, because I can get an idea of what to expect!!!

She is really adorable! I'm guessing medium size would be about right for end result. Just stay ready for that "Coat change" and stay on top of the combing and brushing so you don't have to shave off that beautiful coat. It could happen anytime in the next few months.
Abbey is sure a precious little girl!!
If she's 26 lbs @ 5 months, she could grow to be a large medium or a small standard. I think the breeders project height instead of weight. I think over 19" but under 21" at the shoulder (withers) is how they consider the labradoodle to be medium and over 21" to be standard. I'd have to check it on the ALAA site, but that's pretty close.
My standard Australian Labradoodle is almost 15 months, 23" to the shoulder and weighs in at 50 lbs.

I agree with you, though -- whatever size they grow to is perfect for them. It really doesn't matter because they are wonderful, beautiful, delightful dogs. :-)
Abbey is just adorable! Banjo weighed in at 35 lbs at 6mos and is still that now at 8 mos. I think we can maybe expect up to 5 lbs more....but time will tell!
So cute! what a fluff ball... she looks like she may have a rough coat change... Tori was fluffy like that too, and then over night... in came the mats... keep brushing! Tori didn't change her coat until late about 10/11 months.
So she's going to lose that SOFT cotton hair??? Does it get coarser? and i guess when it gets coarser it mats easier? I don't want her to grow up!!!
Sometimes the coat changes dramatically and other times it stays virtually the same. Generally speaking, color fades over time, texture gets less soft, and the coat gets curlier than the puppy one. Many doodles get coarser hairs on their backs that are either white or reddish.
Sh is so beautiful. She reminds me of Elly only a different color. They are a beautiful and smart dog. And such a people dog.
She's beautiful. Max is a med & weighs 30 lbs. He weighed 10 lbs at 8 wks and put on 5 lbs a mth for the next 3 mths then and then his weight really slowed and I think he quit growing at about 9 mths.
