Tara started vomiting large amounts of blood this morning. We rushed her to the vet and he believes that she ruptured a blood vessel when she vomited (with no blood) earlier in the day.

He said he has seen this before. Right now we are in the monitoring/watch mode and she is home. He did not give her any medication for it as she had stopped vomiting by the time we got her to him.  We don't know if the bleeding has stopped but it seems to have slowed enough to not cause her to vomited it out as she did earlier. Unless it is going the other way now and is going to come out the other end.

We need to keep her very still the next few days to a week (wish us luck with that!!). She really doesn't seem to feel bad and the bleeding seems to be the only symptom. But apparently it could rupture again with over-exertion or eating rough food.

Right now she is sleeping on the couch and I am spending most of my time watching her-making sure she is still breathing!!! My imagination is running wild!!

Tara and DH and I could really use any kind thoughts you can send toward us or heaven!! Thanks!

We just sent all our best thoughts and prayers your way. They should be arriving any minute. Please keep us posted!
So glad that Tara is doing much better. They can really scare you to death at times, can't they?
Lots of Doodle kisses and hugs headed your way from Morgan & Maddie.
Oh goodness. I just saw this. Please update us as you can. Sending good thoughts your way and prayers, for sure. Get well, Tara. Hugs, Lauri and Melody
Thanks Lauria! I've been busy playing "catch-up" since missing work yesterday with Tara and haven't had a chance to post an update today!

Tara is still doing well. No further vomiting or bleeding either as far as we can tell. We will still need to keep has calm (I still laugh everytime I write that!) for the next week or so. Right now we are tempted to muzzle her and hog-tie her so we know she won't eat anything irritating and won't move too much!!!

Her vet called to check on her today and is happy with her progress and we Doodle Parents are starting to relax a little bit!!

Thanks again to everyone for the prayers and moral support!!!

Here she is just chillin'

LOL... Good girl! Keep following doctor's orders so your mommy and daddy can relax a bit! Looks like you are doing a great job so far!
The perfect Doodle pose!!! I just love the way they can so totally relax and not have a care in the world! She looks like she is doing a good job of it too!
:)
Oh, how cute is that?!? Don't you just love that? I love Tara's "chillin' " picture! Melody did have bright red blood in her stool one time. The Vet tested for parasites and culture, etc. all sorts of things....all negative. She had a one time episode is all. The Vet recommended boiled chicken, white rice and cottage cheese for a few days. They do get sensitive gut issues sometimes, the breeder mentioned. She has had no recurrence of any of that, thank goodness!
Nothing is quite like blood to just freak you out!!! Tara is on a similar diet right now too! It is kind of frustrating when the vet comes up with no real explanation as to what the problem was because then you don't know what to do to prevent it from happening again! I am glad that Melody has not had any further problems-hopefully the same will be true for our girl!!
Oh Tara you are chilling aren't you.
Feel better, think happy thoughts!
