Tara started vomiting large amounts of blood this morning. We rushed her to the vet and he believes that she ruptured a blood vessel when she vomited (with no blood) earlier in the day.

He said he has seen this before. Right now we are in the monitoring/watch mode and she is home. He did not give her any medication for it as she had stopped vomiting by the time we got her to him.  We don't know if the bleeding has stopped but it seems to have slowed enough to not cause her to vomited it out as she did earlier. Unless it is going the other way now and is going to come out the other end.

We need to keep her very still the next few days to a week (wish us luck with that!!). She really doesn't seem to feel bad and the bleeding seems to be the only symptom. But apparently it could rupture again with over-exertion or eating rough food.

Right now she is sleeping on the couch and I am spending most of my time watching her-making sure she is still breathing!!! My imagination is running wild!!

Tara and DH and I could really use any kind thoughts you can send toward us or heaven!! Thanks!

Hey Bandit, mommy signed me off before I got to say XOXO!!! Tara
YES!!! So glad to hear that... you know us.... we want ALL of the details. Right down to the poop - color, consistency, you name it. There's a chosen few who delight in finding nothing during "poop inspection" - and we're ALL gathered together right here! So glad Tara is on the mend! You're a good mommy! Love and hugs to you both from Tori and I! Bet you feel like the weight of the world was lifted off your shoulders!
Oh Shelly you crack me up. And you are so right! I was doing Bandit poop inspection tonight when we were over at Ruby's. His poop is kinda whiteish because of his meds but yes, I picked it up an inspected it for any signs of blood or other abnormalities. I think Ruby's DM&DD where lookin at me like WTD?? But I don't care, I love my baby and his white poop!!
Ha! I KNEW there had to be other diligent and devoted poop inspectors out there!!! Right now white poop would be welcome here ! Tara had another session of black icky looking poop this afternoon. I called the doc and he is sure that it is still passing from yesterday's bleeding episode.

It must have been quite a lot of blood that she lost if you add up what came up and what went down. Poor girl! I wonder how much blood a little 19 pounder actually has??
Small amounts of blood can cause dark stool. Still, I'd keep close tabs on her. You are lucky the vet is so close.
Oh goodness, that sounds scary, can you take her poop in and have a fecal test done to determine how much blood and if there is anything else??? How is our little T-baby the rest of the day? Did y'all enjoy your movies?
Fecal tests are for determining if there is blood, not amounts. The only anything else would be for a sharp object, which the, forgive me, the at home squish test would tell.
That would certainly be taking the poop inspection to the next level!! But I have the equipment- latex gloves. Believe me I have done a lot worse!! But let's not open up THAT old wound!! LOL!! It is good to know that even small amounts of blood can darken stool though.

She continues to act just fine. She wants to play and is involved in life as usual. And she enjoyed the movies and spent time dreamin' of her Bandit Baby. So we will continue to TRY to keep her quiet and monitor "things". And it is nice have the vet nearby!!

I know one thing for sure. She is NOT a contender in the Prettiest Doodle Poop Contest! LOL!
T-baby - I would love your poop no matter what color it is. AND you would be a contender for Foxiest Doodle ever I think I see you now heading for the ivy so I am going BACK TO BED! xoxo Bandit
I'm so glad that Tara is better today. I think you deserve the day off together!
Oh my.... keeping you all in our thoughts. How scary.... having her napping on the couch sounds like a great way to keep an eye on her and keep her close.
I am so happy to hear Tara is doing well. Enjoy your day home with Tara.
