Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I saw a television show last night for the first time on NatGeo ~ it was called "My Dog Ate What?".  The first dog they featured was a labradoodle named Lola - of course I was all scared and worried the Doodle wouldn't make it but she did ~ wheew!!  The labradoodle had a fondness for underwear, socks, and a glass baking dish full of brownies INCLUDING the glass dish :-(  It the end because it had ate the socks and underwear it cushioned the stomach lining and the glass didn't puncture the digestive tract.    The others were squeeky hotdogs, carpenters glue, a phone charger and landscape stones.

It really made me start to think about everything that they COULD eat.   Hunter has done her fair share of destroying things but she doesn't tend to "eat" anything that isn't food.  We did have one incident where we thought she ate 2 shotgun shells but thank goodness she didn't.

Has anyone had any experiences like this?  What happened and what did you do?  I found myself today trying to doodle-proof my house even more than it already is!

OMG.

Except for the fact that CJ chews the eyes or noses off of stuffed toys and then extracts ALL the stuffing through the new orifice (I know she needs a doggy shrink!).

Ours haven't eaten anything dangerous.
LOL Hunter does the SAME THING!!!! Maybe they could get a group session with the doggy shrink :-)
I always keep a very close eye on Quincy, he does sometimes eat non food items. He once ate a latex glove(got this while at work with my husband) which, luckily, he passed a few hours later. He will eat sticks, paper and any soft item he can find. He usually will tear them into little pieces and not try to swallow them whole. The good thing is he will usually tell on himself when he has something good, you hear really fast footsteps headed toward the couch, his favorite place to take things to chew. It's easy for me to keep an eye on him, no small kids and I close doors where the most temptation is. Quincy is also like velcro and seldom leaves the room I'm in, if he does I go check and see what he is up to. It is absolutely amazing what dogs will eat. The really good thing is that when he is home alone, he doesn't touch a thing. My husband says our toilet tissue budget has doubled since we've had the doodle. :>)
Whopper had always been a shredder that would leave a mess but not actually eat anything. She was so good at just making messes that she would shred cheerio boxes and leave the cheerios all over the floor. We were so convinced that she would only shred and never actually eat anything you can imagine how surprised we were when an x-ray revealed a brillo pad stuck in her stomach and she was already 20 months old. Surgery and a few days at the vet have hopefully taught her a lesson!
Head of a toothbrush last week, I swear I watched each poo of hers making sure it passed. It did and I did a happy dance.
Allyson ~ The WHOLE head or just chewed the bristles off????
OUCH OUCH OUCH is all I can say! LOL Poor Peri.
Darwin ate the back of one of my shoes when he was a puppy. As well as part of a pot holder, redvines licorice from the garbage, part of a laptop battery cable, and a huge chunk of his rope toy. He is one of those dogs that shreds and destroys any toy given to him. Luckily, he has been trained now to not touch anything that isn't a toy of his. We still watch him carefully though!

Glass pan of brownies? Oh my gosh... how does that even happen?
They had the pan of brownies pushed way back on the counter and somehow she got up there and knocked the pan on the floor where it broke and she ate it. :-(
Boy, this certainly is a coincidence...my husband opened a bottle of beer tonight and took a big drink. He then looked at the opening and the rim was 3/4 broken off. He said the beer went down smoothly so he doesn't think he swallowed the glass but he did say he should probably go eat some socks and underwear right away!!!
Too funny. I hope he's OK.
Oh My gosh, Nancie! The things we 'learn' from our doodles! Guess you won't be inspecting DH's poop like you would for Gracie! LOL
