The dogs have been in their kennels more then usual today -- it's pouring rain.  Every time we walk them outside they end up soaked and so they go in their kennels to dry.  Unfortunately with a puppy.. by the time she dries she needs to go again.  Cycle continues.

Tonight both dogs went outside I dried feet and they were in the living room.. I noticed Violet about to squat and whisked her outside.  She came in, 10 minutes later went to squat --- and thats when I started to worry.  She squatted and whimpered.  No pee.

I took her outside, she squatted several times, every five minutes or so...  not apparently getting relief.  I called my husband to come outside, starting to panic.  I went inside and called the emergency vet.

She's in route there now with my husband.  (Our three kids are in bed, so one of us had to stay here.)

Now... I wait.

My husband is certain he saw her physically pee this afternoon.

Trying not to worry.  Hoping it's nothing and I overreacted.

The vet (perhaps tech?) that I spoke with said it could be an infection.  That might explain why we had so many accidents yesterday... I know when humans get bladder infections they pee like crazy.  It certainly feels like Violet needed to go every 30 minutes - 1 hour yesterday.

Anyway, I am just rambling.  Trying to make the time past faster... and I needed to vent my concerns.

Glad to hear she's doing better. I hope she keeps improving!
Glad to hear that Violet is continuing to improve today! Hooray!! I've had UTI's before and they can cause bladder spasms which make you feel like to you need to pee all the time but there is nothing to pee. Perhaps she had something like that going on yesterday when she did all the squatting.
Soooo glad to hear she's doing better.
UTIs cause a feeling of having to go even if you don't so I would think she no longer has that feeling. Good news!
I am very glad that she is doing better, how scary for you! I freak out the second I think something is wrong with Hunter too. Bladder infections and UTI's are the awful! I have had my fair share of both and kidney stones several times, I am just really feeling poor Violet's pain!! {{{Hugs}}}
I am very glad to hear that Violet is doing better.
Update -- Violet had her 1 week follow up with her usual vet. The vet diagnosed her with Vaginitis. It is apparently caused by a mild, but persistent bacteria. Her labia has puss inside it (poor baby - and this is after a week on Clavamox). My vet states that she likely had the Vaginitis and it traveled up and caused the UTI. Violet has been put on a second round of antibiotics for a longer stint. My vet also said her dog had this issue as well, and the best solution is to let her go through her first heat cycle. If we do not there is a much higher chance of her having constant battles with this. After her first heat the change in her chemistry should help create the needed balance and it should be gone for good.
This is very common in female puppies. I think we discussed it somewhere on DK.
Thanks for the update. Glad to hear that the vet has a plan to end this issue for good!! Hopefully, little Violet will be feeling like new soon!
So glad to hear she is doing better!
Always a relief to know what's causing the problem; I hope Violet will be feeling better soon.
Oh.... poor girl. Hope things continue to improve. Shelby sends puppy kisses!
