Hi Everyone,

I just had to share that I - someone who typically does not read for pleasure - read the most amazing book recently (in one weekend!).  It is Bruce Cameron's book - "A Dog's Purpose".  It is a story, written from the dogs perspective... as he trys to find his purpose after multiple reincarnations.  This book sucked me in and I couldn't put it down.  I cheered, laughed, hoped and cried at various parts throughout the book.  I got it from Amazon for $13.50ish.   It's a great read.... you won't be disappointed!  Here is a picture of the cover!

How strange! I just started reading this yesterday!! I'm about halfway through. I saw it recommended on a kindle discussion board and thought it sounded good. Have you read The Art of Racing in the Rain? It reminds me of that one.
ok, I just bought it for my Kindle. and as soon as I finish the book I'm reading for my bookclub, I'll read this. I almost didn't get it because of the description in Amazon.com. When they talk about a dog that was killed in a hot car, who was born into a puppy mill etc, I just didn't think I could get thru it. But hopefully, those lives will be short in the book and I can get to the good stuff. I am just not able to watch or hear about animal or child abuse. when I watched the movie The Bear, I had to fast forward thru the first part where the bear mother dies. Of course the rest of the movie was just marvelous, but I hate very sad stuff about animals.
With the reincarnation does come some death - but it wasn't as bad as I had expected. I cried... but it all comes together in the end :o)
I can deal with the death of a pet (will shed tears!), but it's the natural progression of life. It's abuse i can't take!
I have not read The Art of Racing in the Rain, but I think I will.... a friend recommended it!
Speaking of the Kindle.... do you like your Kindle? Does it really work well in sunlight as described. I am intriuged and almost bought one.... more so for the sustainability of it all. Held off.... but am still thinking about it. Would love to hear your thoughts!
definitely LOVE my kindle. Mine's a V2, not the newer one that is advertised as being 'easy to read in the sun'. But I use mine in the sun all the time and don't see a problem there. Ir is absolutely the greatest on a trip, esp. long airplane trips! Doesn't support pictures tho, so only text type books work well. I have thought about upgrading, but really haven't seen the need yet. I see the prices have come down since the iPad came.
I LOVE my Kindle too. I bought the first version when they first came out. I've been wanting one of the new ones, but I'm not sure it's worth upgrading. I love being able to carry it anywhere, finish a book, and then have my next book all lined up right in front of me. There are so many free books to try, books that I would never check out of the library or buy, but really fantastic reads. I also love pre-ordered books that download the first day they become available. For me, life-changing. And yes, the "pages" are e-ink, and you can read them in the sun.
