Just in the last couple days we have learned three valuable lessons that all Doodle Parents need to know. We thank their Mommies for sharing their stories and hope that others will learn from them.
#1 -- Bentley has reminded us of the importance of being buckled in regardless of how far you are traveling. Just going to Petsmart is not a harness free trip!
#2 -- Joplin has reminded us that we need trash cans with lids just in case we forget to shut the bathroom door! and while I'm on the subject I also remember a post on SOCKS, so keep those socks picked up too!
#3 -- And finally, Bandit has reminded us that if you eat too many yummy treats and food that your mommy is going to call you F A T and you are going to get put on a DIET!
I'm sure there are others that I've missed, so feel free to add those or any others that you think are worthy!
Don't ever chase the puppy to retrieve your bra. Make he/she bring the bra to you and then say Thank You. Otherwise, for years you have created the great game of chase. Each and every morning your very rested doodle will begin the game of Keep Away--Chase Me. You will be late for work, endure the very high cost of replacing essential garments--and worst of all you look like a fool. Utilize the name Retriever.
Doodles don't like wearing things, so maybe if we make them wear the clothes they steal it might work as aversion therapy. Just picture your doodle walking around wearing your bra, hubbies boxers (or briefs) and several pairs of socks. I think I'll pile all the things Quincy steals and dress him up one of these days. MMmmm now how will I get him to wear the couch cushions and tennis shoes.
Lessons learned the hard way sounds like it could be a very useful group. You could gain the wisdom from all of our mistakes and doodle misdeeds in one spot. You should start this group, I for one have several stories I could contribute.
Yes - ths sounds like a good group. The only caution is that there should be rules that no one critisizes the people posting. If that winds up happening then no one will post and things could get out of hand,
I learned a few weeks ago to keep my purse zipped up. Izzie got into my purse and ate half a pack of sugar free gum with xylitol and we do not know yet if she has any permanent liver damage. We will have her checked again later this month. Also, keep your counters clear of anything not for doodle consumption. Izzie got a bottle of our cat's medicine I had just brought in from the vet's office last year. The odd thing is Max is usually our counter surfer but he goes for human food.
We now have clear counters, trash cans with lids and no gum with xylitol in the house.
