well i was leaving to go to walmart last night and backing out of the garage and accidentally ran over my cat!!! OMG  i saw her crawl off dragging her two  back legs  behind her leaving a trail of liquid. i immediately  got out of my car and ran over to her. she was hiding behind a table and i pulled her out. she was not able to walk on her back legs so i called my husband crying and told him what happened. I ended up having a friend drive me to the emergency vet and had her examined and x-rayed. she was leaking blood out of her rectum and urinary tract. The vet told me that she had a hip out of the socket and that part of that socket was broken. multiple vertebrae were completely crushed above the base of her tail, so that would have to be amputated as well as have her hip socket shaved and permanently dislocated. she most likely wouldnt have any bladder and rectal control so she would have to be monitored and given daily enemas.. If i did proceed with the expensive procedures the vet couldnt even say if she would make if after that, that they should monitor her and keep her medicated and hydrated to see if she could survive surgery.  Well i had to make the hard decision of putting her to sleep this morning. Her quality of life would have  been poor. I FEEL SO GUILTY!!!! its all my fault, she was my baby and slept with me every night.. i had her head cupped in my hands and she was purring before she went to sleep. Please be careful when backing up.. Im picking up my new puppy this afternoon of all afternoons and i feel like crap...at least i know shes feeling bettter now.

I am so sorry! I'm sending lots of sympathy and doodle hugs your way!
Try not to feel guilty, it was a terrible accident. I think you made the right decision in letting her go to sleep. I am very sorry for your loss.
Katie, My thoughts and prayers are with you during your difficult time.
That same thing happened to me 25 yrs ago, when I was a teenager. I know exactly how you are feeling. My cat had surgery and was in misery for several days before she passed on. I can tell you that a tragedy makes you a much more vigilant person. I am the most careful person backing up! I am sorry that this happened to you.
Katie, Just checking in to see how you are doing? You have been in my thoughts!
I'm doing better the new puppy daisy has had me going and thankfully keeping my mind off things... Still have all the kitty stuff out.... Ryan wants another cat someday... But I want to be way past housetraining the Lil one before getting one.... I'm my heart I want to adopt an old shelter cat with no chance but it would have to deal with two dogs so I don't know if that would work lol... There's something great about giving a cat a second chance to be themselves and not locked up... Funny thing is I was never a cat person before Marley.... She would only come out at night to snuggle and was content sleeping in the closet or garage the rest of the time... My mom said she would forget I even had a cat!. I feel good knowing that she was happy with us for her last year and a half... She adopted us... Found her on our doorstep starves and injured with puncture wounds in her head and matted to the skin... We vaccinated shaved and fed her and gave her a peaceful home... Until we got ruby that is!!! She was declawed when we found her( even more tragic) but she would punch ruby in the face if she got too close or was teasing her... Anyway I'm rambling but I am doing better thank u for all of your support... That's why I posted here instead of any other site I belong to... You ladies r awesome and thanks again
So glad to hear you are doing better! You truly gave Marley a wonderful home. If it wasn't for you, she would never had known love from a human! You were wonderful to her!!! Enjoy that puppy!
Katie, you are in my prayers. I know how devistated you are, I had an accident with my one and only kitty Scout about 10 years ago and it still just hurts my heart. She knows you loved her and it was an accident. I hope all is going well with the new puppy. God Bless.
I am so sorry about this. Thinking of you.
What a terrible accident Katie - and it was just that, an accident. I will keep a good thought for you as you deal with this loss.
Oh Katie, What a challenging time for you right now. Isn't guilt one of the hardest emotions and feelings we some time(s) experience. I believe it must be related to caring somehow. I feel for you . I really do. I think how blessed your cat was to have found you and the love she received from you and the family. By putting her to sleep you were thinking of her first. She knows how you feel. She will supply you with alot of smiles for along time to come. Know that there are many people that are thinking of you and the pain you are experiencing. Like your cat we wish you did not have to go through that. Hopefully your pain will be gone soon. The purring was to let you know that she loved you no matter what. Take care!.
I am so sorry, hugs and loving thoughts coming your way from your friends here in Florida....
