I will be meeting Latte's new family on October 9th and to help the new family so they don't have to drive quite so far I offered to drive a couple hours to meet them. That would put us in the Kalamazoo area and I'm trying to find a good place for all to meet. The Fort Custer Recreation Area looks fairly close and says it is dog friendly. Does anyone know if we can enter the park without actually camping there? Is it really dog friendly? It's important to me that Latte have a great first meeting with her new family and would like her to be able to stretch her legs a bit before the rest of her long journey.
Hi Kim, Fort Custer is dog friendly. It is a huge park with plenty of space with fields, woods and lakes. There is not a fenced in area, if you need that. Kalamazoo has a new dog park that is one acre, fenced. It is $5 per car Fairmont Dog park @7051 W KL Ave, kalamazoo. This will be about 15 minutes off of I-94. Fort Custer will be about 10min off 94, there is a daily fee, but I'm not sure what it is. Where are the two of you traveling from, I am in Kzoo, let me know if I can help.
Hi Sheri - I'm coming from Eastpointe and the adopting family is coming from Wisconsin. I was looking for a place to let Latte stretch her legs and meet her new family before the long trip to her new home. I'm worried that a dog park may be too stimulating if it is busy and she won't be able to spend one on one time with her new family.
