Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Gatsby's a shelter puppy.  The shelter didn't really know much about his parents, just that he was a labradoodle.  I'm assuming he's 50/50.

I've read a couple rule of thumbs to determine how much he's going to weigh when he's done growing, but I can't remember how much he weighed at 16 weeks.

He's now 6 months, and he's just over 30lbs.  He has some serious supermodel legs. ;)  He could be a Victoria's Secret model, for sure.  Only without the boobs.  He's so slender, too.  His shaggy fur makes him look bigger than he really is.  I thought he was a chunker. ;)

So my question is...do we think he's a medium doodle?  Has his weight and height evened out at 6 months?  Or should I be expecting more weight gain?  I'm 5ft4 and he only comes just a little over my knees.

Here's the only picture I can offer (right after his new hair cut!).  He moving around too much for me to get one while he's standing.  http://www.flickr.com/photos/46128622@N02/5059812425/

Sorry if this question has already been asked!  And I know these questions are probably hard to determine, but I'd appreciate suggestions anyway. (:

My guess is that Gatsy will be ~50-55 lbs as an adult. He is super cute!!
Charlie never got any bigger since she was 8 months or so. She is now 22 months, and only weight 42lb. But neither her mom nor dad is medium..... She just happen to be a smaller standard, I guess.
The smaller doodles mature sooner so Gatsby might be getting close to being done growing. My guess would be 40 pounds perhaps. My labradoodle reached 17" and 27 pounds by 8 or 9 months and hasn't changed - he is 2 1/2.
Dogs can gain weight up until about 15 months. Not that all do, but thats general rule of thumb. Typically what I've read and seen here is that (for large dogs) you take their weight at 4 months and double it +10lbs. Maybe with medium to small it's just double the 4 month weight? They have massive growth spurts at first and then they trickle off and grow much slower, I'm sure his growth has slowed by now but it still could be slow and steady for up to almost another year. :)

This was posted in one of the groups (possibly Puppy Maddnes). We started marking Marley's height on the garage door, as well as her 'projected' height! Should be interesting to see where she stands...of course we think she is above average on all aspects :)
He sounds about Boca's size.  She's 34 lbs at 7 months...doubt she'll ever hit 50 unless she becomes obese.  But ya never know...she is a rescue and I have no knowledge of her parents.
Thanks everyone! I can't remember how much he weighed at 4months, so I can't double it to estimate his finished weight.

He's just all gangly and legs right now. It looks like he should get taller...especially with those feet. *shrug* Who knows for sure, right? Just trying to get a few estimates, which you guys definitely helped with.

I'm sure my family wouldn't mind at all if he stayed on the medium side. ;) I wouldn't mind him getting a little bigger, though, currently, he's the perfect time for a quick force-cuddle. The little booger has to be in a real special mood to cuddle on his own. :P

Thanks again!
