I'm so happy I joined this group!  We have two grandsons, six and a half and four and a half, and now a new granddaughter, who is 3 and a half MONTHS!  The issue I have with Emma, who is two, is that she loves to chase our youngest grandson, nips at his hands and feet, and pretty much (I believe), thinks he's a puppy for her to play with.  She's also been known to chase small children when we've been at the park, though I've tried to focus her on her ball, which she loves, and that has definitely improved.  As for the new baby, we've let Emma kiss her hands and feet, but she still gets very excited when she's visiting.  I've been using the crate and giving her a "time out," but any suggestions regarding the chasing, which is more serious, would be appreciated.  I'm concerned that once the baby starts moving around, Emma will behave the same way she does with Joshua.  Sorry to be so long-winded!

I am not sure about kids at the park, aside from just putting her on a long lead. If she doesn't come when you call her, reel her in. As far as her chasing your grandchildren, I have a similar experience. I knew that with the high pitched voices and other such things, might make him hyper. I told the kids, if Darwin is running towards you, turn your back to him and don't address him until he's calm. He almost immediately calms down and sits. Anyways, before we taught the kids to turn their backs, their natural instinct was to run and of course that made him want to chase them. So maybe they could try completely stopping as he chases them, turning their backs to her, folding their arms and showing her no attention.

But if Emma is chasing as well as nipping and jumping... I'm not sure. I hope someone else with better training knowledge will respond... the only thing I can think of is to keep her on a leash and continue training until she reliably listens to commands..
