Hopeless Doodle Addict Trophy is STILL in Ohio!
Yes folks, the Hopeless Doodle Addict Trophy is STILL in Ohio! Recently the coveted trophy was passed on to me by the previous recipient, Joanne, her doodle husband Roger and their doodles, Spud and Starlit. Many thanks to Joanne, Roger, Joanne's Mom, Spud and Starlit for the great gifts and the kind hospitality each time we get the opportunity to see you. We had the opportunity to pass the trophy on in person AND have a mini doodle romp at the same time with some more DK members. We met up at Bow Wow Beach in Stow, OH. The weather was perfect and we all had a great time! Joanne tried to have all the doodles in attendance touch their noses to the trophy. Could this be a new tradition? I guess if you don't like doggy germs then maybe not! (I left the doodle nose prints on the trophy for the next recipient!)
Along with the trophy and HDA journal Joanne sent an Akron T-shirt from the town that she lives in (she kindly washed the shirt to remove the cat hair because her cat had slept in the box that the trophy and gifts were transported in, thanks Joanne!), Roger sent a couple bags of his delicious home baked cookies for Sheba and Duke and our foster doodle, Ralph, to share. Spud and Starlit sent a couple of their favorite indoor toys (Skinneez). Wow, they even match Sheba and Duke's coat colors! Joanne's mother sent an adorable little key chain that has little charms on it relating to dogs and there was also a Akron, OH Visitors Guide.
And now for my Hopeless Doodle Addict acceptance speech....
First, I want to thank Adina and Clark who created this wonderful forum and have put in countless hours giving us all a wonderful place to visit and for creating the beautiful DK calendars. Because of them, and countless others who have contributed to this site, we all have a wealth of knowledge to draw from and have become more enlightened dog owners. Because of DK, I have had the opportunity to meet and befriend many DK members at romps and "met" many members online that I hope to someday meet in person. Thanks for the support, kind words and fun times, you guys rock! I am now fostering a handsome LD named Ralph. Because of DK I have met up with some great people in the DK community who want to save doodles and offer them a better life. Thanks to the Doodle Rescue Collective for entrusting me with these beautiful beings and giving me a chance to help. I never realized when I clicked on that button to join DK that it would become such a big part of my life! Many nights when my DH, Mike, gets home from work he asks me, "What's happening on DK"? Mike knows the names of quite a few DK members and their doodles names. He has also attended quite a few romps with me and taken lots of great photos which leaves me time to visit with everyone. If you read this, thanks honey for letting me indulge! Last, but not least, thanks to my beautiful, wonderful, goofy doods, Sweet Sheba and Duke "Nubby" Brown for bringing lots of joy and unconditional love into my life!

I'll bet they all smelled Roger's delicious home baked cookies on the trophy! You should have taken a picture of Laz in the trophy box, it would have made for a cute picture.

I'm on a different computer.... I can't find Laz but I did find this... I never put the labels in the cookies I just remembered. I'm not seeing Duke's but this computer is confusing

I love this photo you took too! When I first posted it, members asked why he was jumping for joy --I told them it was a secret and that they would soon find out. Well the secret is OUT! YOU ARE ADDICTED! Hooray! Jump for Joy!

Amazing...Air Spud looks just like Air Gracie Doodle. We had a romp today. Look at the difference in the park and surroundings!!!

Wow! Gracie is beautiful AND athletic! I love the first photo. Most of the dog parks close to us look pretty much the same. I don't think the dogs care too much about the scenery though! I believe the park we were at is rated one of the best in Ohio. Too bad we're about 2 1/2 hours from it.
Here's a shot of the dog park in our town. It was opened last year and it sits behind the dog warden's building. It's sad when we are out there playing with the dogs and you can hear the poor dogs in the building crying. Now and then you can see people dropping off dogs into the "dog deposit boxes" after the office closes. One night someone dropped off a little teacup Yorkie. The lady found it wondering the neighborhood and couldn't find it's home. She said she was afraid her dog might hurt it. I took the dog home with me that night as I couldn't bear it being in one of those dark metal boxes. The next day I met up with a woman, who rescues dogs, at the dog warden's office. The warden had to hold the dog for a few days to see if the owner claimed it. No one did so Deb vetted the dog and found it a great home. Yay!
There are 5 doodles in this photo, we were lucky as we had the park all to ourselves for a couple hours.

Well, at least you have agility equipment in the park!! The Doodle Romp I go to once a month is a 1 1/2 hr. drive for me. Today I didn't take my camera out of the car. Nancy (Ned and Clancy) was the photographer for the day. We had a very small turn out. Probably because we had a fine mist into drizzle all day and no sun what so ever! Doodles had fun though...as usual. Gracie is a very agile dog. We did agility training for the fun of it. My goal is to get great jump shots and running shots that are crystal clear. These were an attempt at the wrong time of day so the lighting was not right. Also, not sharp photos.
