Do you have a "legal" goldendoodle?

So yesterday we are walking in our downtown area and going by some sidewalk cafes.  There is a woman eating at one of the restaurants and she has her dog next to her.  Turns out the dog is a goldendoodle.  So she stops us and asks ,”is that a  goldendoodle?” and I said, “yes” She says oh I love his color how unusual and I say well he is part setter he is an Irish Goldendoodle.  She looks at me and says very coolly so he isn’t a legal goldendoodle?I didn’t really know what to say, I mean is GD a breed now?  Or is it just a type of dog ?  I kind of felt weird, for those that may have “mixes” like good ol Snickers what do you tell people?  Do you think Snickers is a goldendoodle?  Having sort of a crisis of identity for the pup right now!

This post reminds me of the guy I wrote about, about a year ago. A "not so bright" man asked me, " Is that there dog, one of 'em Inbreeds?" UGH! No, I politely said, "He is a Cross-Breed." He still didn't get it. I never forgot him.

Your dog is an absolutly adorable DOODLE!!! Who cares what kind, he looks a lot like one of mine because of the red coat and I think the name is brilliant! My next doodle (and there will be more, these are the best dogs EVER) I will name Snicker because I call mine Guinnessdoodle and Mollydoodle all the time, I would love to be able to call one Snickerdoodle, lol.

OOOhhhhh Irish Goldendoodle?!! With that BEAUTIFUL red hair and Irish heritage he would fit right in with my family!! I have such a soft spot for anything red! Did you ask that wack-a-doodle to define "legal Goldendoodle" LOL Is there a citation for that somewhere? It should be illegal for people to ask such idiotic questions!
