I'm contemplating getting a goldendoodle puppy and have been researching this site extensively. What has struck me is the adorable unique names and the more popular names for doodles. I notice a lot of Coopers which is perfect for a little boy. I also see a lot of Belle's and Bella's for little girls.

Share your doodle's name and how you came up with them! I just might find one for my future doodle.

Shelby, named after the Shelby Mustang from Shelby county Tennessee. Driving in Austin Tx, we saw this Mustang that was just the Baddest we had ever seen!

Well Oliver is Oliver Wendell, I was reading a book about Oliver Wendell Holmes when we got him, and when I looked at his face, I said, Yup, thts his name, Oliver...He responded to it immediately, so that is how he was named. Of course now he is called, Oliver, Ollie, Ollie Bolli, etc,and he answers to all of them...Lol. good luck, with getting a puppy, you will just love this doodle "breed". Oliver is a standard size goldendoodle, he is now 18 mos old, and he is the best dog I have ever had, and we have had some wonderful dogs. There is just something very special about a doodle, and when you get one you will understand why we are all so smitten with our fur babies..

I have shared this before on DK.. Webber was named after UBS/Paine Webber, the investment brokers. I robbed my retirement account to buy him. Seda means "silk" in Spanish. Her coat felt like silk when I first held her...and thus, the name. Good luck with the names. Now that my bank has been bought by Wells Fargo, I was thinking Fargo would be a good name!

My family and I drove up to WVA get a female doodle (that my sister already name her Lucy) When we had arrive to the breeders house to get Lucy, my dad fell in love with her brother. In the car I thought a great name to name the male Charlie after The Peanuts Gang, ( My sister already named the female and I thought of Charlie.

Erin ~ Good luck with the upcoming puppy!!! I've told this story before, but never get tired of telling it, so here goes.... We were unsure of whether we were getting a male or female, but we KNEW it was an AUSSIEdoodle.. so, began our 'search' for "australian names.... (She was from Canada, so we contemplated using french names, but decided against it)... We found many words which we loved... Cobber which means 'friend', Suki - calm and gentle, Kylie = boomerang, and Tori an aborigine word meaning elegant. When we knew it was a female - we knocked out Cobber (which we truly loved- and when we get #2 -hoping it is a male, we have the name).. so we were tossed between Suki and Tori... we then used the old 'scientific method' to choose... we wrote both names on a piece of paper crumpled them up (as if she could read) laid them on the floor across the room, and called her.. we tallied the number of times she 'chose' each name (and I wonder WHY she eats paper - lol) and got Tori! We now think it IS fitting for her!

Back in the days of yore, on sailing ships, The Rouser was the person who brought you your daily ration of rum or grog. He was called The Rouser because he doled out the rum at one time and, if you were asleep, he would rouse you so you wouldn't miss your ration. As I'm sure you can imagine, The Rouser was one popular guy!

Since we sail, we thought this was cute so we called our puppy Rouser. Little did we know, the name would work in a number of ways.

We started laughing once we got to our 7th night with our new poppy and realized just how frequently he would "rouse" us each night to go potty (or play!).

We continue to laugh upon realizing that, no matter what level of obedience training he gets to (and he's quite advanced now), he is always the class clown and, therefore, a lot of people call him a Rabble Rouser.

For many reasons, our little Rouser is perfectly named.

We named our goldendoodle "Penny" because when we got her, she was coppery red like a shiny penny - and she still has that shiny personality!

[Carla, Lucca and Izzy]

Lucca means "light" in Italian. Our Golden Retriever was Mia (Cara Mia - meaning my love) in Italian. Yup...I love Italian names. Now with #2 Dood coming in November also, we are having a hard time choosing a name. Looking forward to following this post to get ideas. So far for a girl we have Franki or Zoe....a boy would be Zeke or Frankie. I would like a couple more options. When we picked up Lucca we had 4 names picked out and when we saw him we knew he was Lucca!!!

Achilles was named by my son, he is into mythology. We also thought it would be a hoot when we tell him to heal!
