Teddy is 6 months old today. He started shedding, not a lot, but supprised me. I hope he does not lose all that fluff. I am wondering when he stops losing puppy hair?

He has a very interesting coat. I have to say that in the 6 years I've been following the Doodle breeding trend, I have not seen a Doodle with a coat like his. Thoughts from others? He has an extremely plush, straight coat with a HUGE undercoat. I hate to ask this, but is there any chance that he is not a Poodle mix? Did the breeder breed other types of dogs or have other breeds at her home? He almost looks like the Golden/Pyrenees crosses I've seen.

I guess time will tell. It will be interesting to see what he looks like at a year.
You are right. I haven't seen any doodles look like him. I met the parents. A standard white poodle weight 60 lbs and a beautiful golden retriever. I did call her and ask about his face and she told me another in the litter look more like a golden retriever. He looks like a golden retriever in the face. But the hair is wow, where did that come from. Someone else ask me about the pyrenees, so I looked them up. He could pass for one of those also! LOL. Only time will tell what he will look like when he grows up. I know he is so sweet and so easy to train. But, I think maybe he is part bear.
Not to belabor the point, but just because you saw a Poodle stud dog on site does not mean that he was this boy's daddy :^) If you really wanted to know, you could run a DNA test on him.

Anyway, it is hard to say what his coat will do. From what I've read, these straighter coated Doodles do seem to shed. As a Poodle breeder, I would say that 6 months old is too early to see the start of the coat change. I bet you are seeing seasonal fall shedding. Hopefully he will be a minimal shedder at most.
There is no shedding on clothes or floors. Just when I comb him. I am new to this and was told by the breeder he was a goldendoodle. Except for the white fur, I also don't see any resemblance. But when we went to pick him up I had no idea what a doodle looked like. We took one look at Teddy and fell in love.
At about a year Darwin started shedding, exactly like you just said. No shedding on clothes or floors, just when we comb him. It's almost like his hair is floating in the air when we brush him. :-) He started at about a year but is now over a year and a half and the hair flying when we brush him has definitely decreased.

Teddy is one of the cutest fluffiest dogs I've seen on DK. I wish I could hug him!
That was really, really sweet. I will give him a hug from you. And give Darwin a hug from me.
Teddy is a darling puppy . Ned began his coat change at 6 months, so it is possible. Ned doesn't shed, but he began with matting behind the ears. It took him until age two to complete the change. I have heard that many puppies who shed, don't as adults, or if they didn't shed as puppies, they do as adults. We also have a rescue doodle - probably a goldendoodle who does shed. We didn't get him until he was an adult so I don't know what he looked like as a puppy.
Well he had to be a beautiful puppy. Look at him now. Wow. beautiful Doodle!!! Thanks for the information on shedding.
