Bella was spayed last monday. So we are on day 5 of recovery. We sailed through day one and two and most of three since we had Murphy stay at our daughters and she was pretty sleepy for about 24 hours. THEN she WOKE UP!  She had pain meds for 3 days, so she seemed very comfortable. Comfortable enough to run, play, jump, chase Murphy and wrestle once he got home, hop onto the bed, hop off of the bed.....

Other than her being in her Expen 24/7, how do you keep them from normal puppy activity?  AND mostly, has anyone ever had a dog injure themselves after surgery from resuming normal activity?  Her incision looks fine, no swelling, redness, seeping, tearing. She hardly notices it at all.

An suggestions?

Ha, I have one and haven't had to use it for licking, but maybe it would restrict her activity some. I will give that a try. Can't wait to see Murphy's face when he tries to bite her ears or mouth later. I should have my video ready for that one!
Good luck!! Sunny was very embarrassed and upset that she couldn't bite our other dog's ears while she had the cone of shame on.
When Bear was fixed I picked him up from the vet and he acted like they had given him crack! He was not phased by the entire process...The most I could do for him was lifting him up and down the stairs in the house, other than that he behaved as normal...I am sure that Bella will be just fine!
Thanks, we had to do the same the first day, actually I had to carry her in from going potty outside. She would slowly walk out to the yard, take her time peeing and then just plop down. There was no enticing her to get up on her own steam. Quite pathetic, but like I said, she is whine-y, so I felt sorry for her and carried her in and out of the house the first day, and lifted her on and off the couch. She was running outside by the end of 24 hours and there's been no stopping her since. You're right too, other than the first day, she is not phased by th entire process either.
We just used the crate more than usual and took her out for potty (the first few days) on leash. And...didnt let her wrestle with Rosco. But if anything she jumped MORE during that week and a half.
Funny Adina, I was wondering if she was actually jumping more or if I was just more aware of her jumping cuz she wasn't supposed to be jumping!
