With family around for the holidays that may not know the danger of
certain foods for our dogs, please remember to tell them that
raisins
grapes
chocolate
onion
dark meat turkey
are dangerous to dogs.
My MIL just called - her sister had her granddaughter at the house and somehow
their poodle found a snack size box of raisins. She is in intensive care
- outcome unknown now.
Don't let this happen to your doodles!!!

Good reminder , thanks. The Danger Group has many food and other dangers to dogs listed. There are seasonal topics, too
Thanks Adrianne! Sending our pawsitive thoughts for the poodle's recovery!
So sad, and thank you for reminding everyone. I did not know myself that dark meat turkey is a problem....
It really isn't, in moderation, and if a dog is accustomed to getting table food. It's just that vets see triple the number of cases of pancreatitis in dogs at the holidays because of dogs being fed relatively high amounts of fatty foods by well-meaning owners and guests. Dark meat turkey is higher in fat than white meat. That's the only difference. The skin is really the worst part of a holiday meal for a dog. And any table food is going to cause tummy problems for a dog who never gets it any other time of the year.
Thank you for the reminder
Thanks for the reminder, don't forget pistachio nuts are also on that list as well as many holiday plants, especially the beautiful poinsettias.
Happy Holidays to All!
So sorry Adrianne. Hope your Aunt ( I think it is your aunt) and her dog get well real soon. My dogs get no raisins. I eat them faster than they can get to them.
Thanks for the reminders Adrianne. Never thought of dark meat turkey being higher in fat, but I guess it is. Also our thoughts and prayers are with you and your MIL for their poodle.
Thanks for the reminder, I hope all works out for the best.
I hope the poodle is okay. Dark meat turkey? This was a surprise to me. Luckily Darwin hasn't had any... phew.
Sugar free gum and candy with xylitol is also very dangerous. We almost lost Izzie to sugar free gum.
